The Mapocho River, a lifeline for the people of Santiago, begins its journey on the slopes of Cerro El Plomo, a sacred mountain known as Apu Wamani. On this high-altitude adventure, you’ll delve into the heart of the Andean landscape shaped by this iconic river. Your journey follows the origins of the Mapocho river, starting with a 1-hour drive east of the city. There, you can choose to explore Yerba Loca, a park featuring a scenic valley, friendly trails, and comfortable picnic spots—home to over 100 archaeological sites. Alternatively, if you’re seeking a greater challenge, we can continue 30 more minutes to the base of the Andes, where you’ll have the option to ascend summits like Cerro Pintor. We’ll kick off our hike with stunning vistas of glaciers, towering 6,000-meter peaks, and, on clear days, even Santiago far below. Whether you choose the tranquility of Yerba Loca or the thrill of conquering Pintor, the beauty and excitement of the Andes will be with you every step of the way. Our tour is fully customizable, tailoring the hike to match your fitness level and preferences. Hikes can range from 5 to 8 hours approximately.

Very, very happy with this guiding company! I did two full- day hikes with them-- including the Maipo Valley. It was a private guided hike. Tailored to my ability and interests-- which included getting great photographs. The guide was excellent! I would highly recommend these hikes for anyone visiting Chile who wants a first-class experience hiking in the Andes.

The experience was great! Joaquín was very competent and accompanied me from start to finish for this project. The hike was very pleasant (even if demanding, the altitude really skews your hiking level, I can do 2000m of height difference, but here my recovery was much less good than usual and I could only do 900). Even if we stopped at the first peak (falsa prava), it was amazing :)

Joaquin guided us over the course of four days to Monumento Natural El Morado, Cerro Pintor, Zapallar, and Cerro La Campana. We had a fantastic trip and each day offered a different look at Chile's natural beauty. Joaquin was a great guide; he was was very organized with logistics and knowledgeable on each region we went to. We had a lot of questions on the the ecology, birds, wildlife, and Chilean culture, which was almost always able to answer. He also made really good sandwiches and brought delicious snacks. I would highly recommend booking a tour with this company.

Definite recommendation when in Santiago. Hiked Cerro Pintor with Joaquin - he was really responsive and supportive in the lead up to the trip and made sure all arrangements would accomodate me. The hike itself was amazing, such a beautiful trek and really great conversation all the way up. He was also really aware of matching my ability and making sure the pace was right for me. So grateful and wouldn't hesitate to use Ecordua again!

Joaquin was fantastic from start to finish. I contacted him at late notice via WhatsApp to try to organise something and we were able to arrange a hike to Cerro Pintor as a solo private tour thanks to his excellent communication. The trip itself was very nice, the organisation was excellent and the views were outstanding. Its also nice to experience the altitude of 4000m+ just protect yourself from the sun!

Joaquin great guide and person! We met him at the base of the parva and despite not hiring his services as a tour guide, he helped us and guided us to follow the path to the summit of Cerro la parva. He gave us tips, facts and taught us about the vegetation, volcanoes and summits of the sector. Very good layout on your part and very good vibe. Fully recommended!
