We’re Nam, Van, Lisa, and Julia—the owners of Joyful Adventures, a group of young locals who speak English fluently, each holding a Professional Tour Guide Certificate. Having called Hanoi home for over twenty years, we have a deep love for this city and all its hidden gems.
Our goal is to explore the ancient 2,700-year history of the Vietnamese people, with their tradition of nation-building and defense, along with legendary stories that enrich the Vietnamese soul. To discover the everyday material life of the locals and the rich spiritual life reflected in ancestor worship, as well as the practices of visiting temples and pagodas among the Vietnamese. And to experience the fascinating blend of old Hanoi’s architecture, the mix of Eastern and Western cultures, and the fresh vibes of modern Hanoi.

5.00I absolutely loved the Highlights and Secrets of Hanoi Old Quarter Through Train Street tour. My guide, Vân, was truly exceptional. She shared fascinating insights about the Old Quarter, local traditions, and hidden spots I never would have found on my own. The highlight for me was the old bridge — incredibly impressive and full of history. Vân explained its background so vividly that I could really appreciate its significance and architectural beauty. Walking across it was one of the most memorable moments of my stay in Hanoi. Vân was warm, knowledgeable, and always attentive, making the tour both fun and meaningful.

The guide (Vân) was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, sharing fascinating insights about the history, culture, and hidden gems of the city that I would have never discovered on my own. Walking through the bustling streets, seeing the daily life of locals, and experiencing the unique Train Street up close was both exciting and unforgettable. 5.00A breathtaking view of an amazing city by Van that allows you to really see the city. To be able to hear about the history and culture of Hanoi while also getting a great understand of modern day Vietnam this tour was one of my all time favourites.

She is a very intelligent and wise lady, who told us about Vietnamese history with such professionalism that it could — and should — be taught worldwide. With genuine hospitality, she paid attention to our needs and answered all our questions with enthusiasm. It felt as if she were a family member. I already loved Vietnam, but now I love it even more! 5.00I had a tour with Lisa in the old quarter. Good tour, good guide!!! The highlight is train street. The guide booked a table for us in advance so we have a good spot to see the train crossing. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great tour of the Old Quarter which was very pleasant and informative. Van is a super nice person with good humor and gives you a good insight and the feeling of being in good hands. We were traveling alone with her which was of course also beneficial.
