Join us on a private tour of the beautiful Llaviucu Lake and Valley! Our guided hike will be along an ancient Inca trail where we will see Lake LLaviucu, the ruins of an abandoned German brewery, and meadows where wild horses and alpacas graze.

Many of the sights are beyond the park trail most visited. Normally, we are the only ones in this area, which adds to the charm and enrichment of the experience.

What To Expect

Enjoy a guided hike of a remote valley with a beautiful lake, towering cliffs, varieties of flowers and trees, wild horses and alpacas, a meandering river and distant waterfalls. Your trip will include light hiking, plenty of stops for rest, views, photography, even meditation (if you wish), and breaks for snacks. We are happy to take personal or group photos for our guests, too!

I had a great day in beautiful nature! I can highly recommend this tour with Marc and Marian from Explore Cajas, they are super nice and they know some nice spots normally no one else is going to. The hike (for me) was easy, not too long and almost flat most of the time.

I was fortunate in that I was the only guest on the day we trekked and Marc was my host. The hike delivered on all that was promised and more. Marc is very personable and knowledgeable. He is also willing to admit it when he doesn't know the answer to one's questions, which is refreshing. We hiked on a misty day, saw alpacas, mustangs, and other critters as well as spectacular vistas.
Well worth it.

This was a great trip and way to spend the day, with good views and history of the valley. Very convenient and interesting
We drove to the first entrance from Cuenca, then hiked up the valley from there. We saw wild horses, llamas andalpaca.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Marc! We had been wanting to hike Cajas National Park and we were not disappointed. Marc is knowledgeable, kind and a pleasure to spend the day with. We saw beautiful flora and fauna; llamas, alpacas and wild horses. The sceneries are absolutely gorgeous with serene lake, flowing streams and rivers, towering mountains and lush cloud forest. If you are thinking to hike Cajas National Park, please give Marc a call. You will not be disappointed!

My husband & I booked a tour with 2 other couples for our first time hiking in the Cajas with Marc & Marian and had a fantastic time! They were knowledgeable & fun sharing experiences with us as well as going out of their way to show us a rare tree indigenous to Ecuador that we would have missed otherwise. Also appreciated their attention throughout the hike to our individual hiking abilities making sure we were always comfortable with the distance & feeling good along the way. We enjoyed seeing so many amazing views of the lake, waterfalls, alpacas & horses & will definitely be booking with them again in the future!!

I had a fantastic time with Marc and Marion. They were enthusiastic and easy-going guides and had all-around great vibes. I can't imagine a better pair to have guided me through such a breath-taking location. The mountain vistas from the valley are out of this world. We saw wild alpacas and ate lunch with a band of curious wild horses in a meadow, and we spotted a pair of turquoise jays in the cloud forest region. I would suggest bringing some waterproof boots as a few parts of the trail can get muddy. Overall this was a wonderful and unforgettable adventure. I hope some day I can return and take their other tours too!
