It was a great experience! Djae and Janeel were always aware of the group and its abilities. Very conscientious guides! It was a difficult hike for sure. Not for casual hikers! But very worth it. An interesting and difficult climb. Views at the top were fantastic! Definitely recommend these guys!

We had an incredible and challenging hike with excellent guidance throughout. The trail was tough, but thanks to the professional and supportive guide, we successfully reached the summit. The view at the top was indescribably beautiful — truly breathtaking. Every step of the effort was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an adventurous and rewarding experience!

Great guides, and good tour. If it hadn’t rained so much, it would have been top rating 👍👍 Unfortunately, there was also no visibility at the volcano, which was a great pity. The guides have always (and everyone 👍👍) been careful that nothing happens! Thank you for that.😉👍

I’m so glad I booked my tour with Janeel, who comes highly recommended. He has climbed the volcano over 500 times and I trusted his expertise to complete a challenging, but meaningful hike. I don’t think I would have made it all the way as it gets more technical towards the summit. Detailed instructions, “left foot here, right hand here, next right foot here,” helped me to complete the trek safely. Transportation to and from trailhead, light snacks and hydration (bring your own as well) provided as well as a bit of history and information on fauna and flora. Highly recommend!!!

Arduous hike through real jungle up a very steep and rough trail of boulders and roots. Not for the faint of heart. If you’re over 40 you need to be very fit. Worth the effort. Unforgettable.

We had an absolutely beautiful hike and overall a fantastic experience. The route definitely lived up to its advertised difficulty level — it was challenging enough to feel rewarding, but never overwhelming. Unfortunately, we were a bit unlucky with the weather. It was very wet throughout the day, and the rain made it quite cold at times. However, this did not take away from the experience as much as one might expect. The tour guides were excellent. Despite the weather, they remained positive, encouraging, and professional at all times. They made sure everyone felt comfortable and supported, helped anyone who needed assistance, and never rushed or pressured the group. Their good mood really made a difference. All in all, it was a top-quality hike and a truly memorable experience. I would definitely recommend it.

The hike itself was great! It was certainly challenging for someone who regularly weight lifts and goes running. Hydrate beforehand and don’t wear sandals and you’ll be golden. The views were beautiful! The tour guide service was just okay. I was picked up in a car (not a taxi) that just belonged to an employee…. And I almost didn’t get in because the car was extremely questionable and the situation felt unsafe for a solo woman. It was not at all a welcoming vehicle. We picked up another hiker and she was equally as shocked at the vehicle situation. The guide was also just okay. He didn’t really talk much or work hard to look back and make sure I was good until we hit our spots to take a break. The only other hiker on my trip dropped out after 20 minutes so again I was solo with just a guide. I felt safe enough, but he was going extremely fast. When I mentioned it or asked to slow a bit he just kind of laughed and kept going. (This was very evident from the start when the other hiker was slower from the start and he was very uninterested at slowing for her too). I tried to make small talk as we hiked but he was fairly quiet. He did offer to take my photo here and there which was nice. For the guide service I wouldn’t say it was worth more than $50 or so. The path is super clear and well marked and honestly if you have a group, you could go without the guide and be just fine.

My wife and I tackled this hike on Thursday, February 5th, and it was the highlight of our trip. If you’re looking to take this on, you need a reliable team behind you. JB Taxi and Excursions was, without question, the perfect choice. The Service: JB Taxi & Excursions From the start, the owner, Janeel, was exceptional. We were on a tight schedule with our cruise ship departing at 3:30 PM. Janeel stayed in constant contact, ensuring a seamless transition from the ship to the meeting point. He was honest about the pace required to reach the summit within our window, which we truly appreciated. Our guide, Wasim, was the MVP of the day. He has the perfect personality for this work—encouraging, professional, and highly aware of the clock. He knew exactly how to pace us so we could summit and return safely without missing our ship. The Hike: What You Need to Know This is a rewarding but serious trek. Before you lace up your boots, keep these 6 things in mind: 1) Not for Beginners: This isn't a casual stroll; it’s a demanding climb that requires focus. 2) Fitness Level: You should be in "average to great" shape. I’m 53, slightly overweight, but an experienced hiker—and I still found it tough! 3) Traction is Key: Wear shoes with deep treads. I made the mistake of wearing worn-out runners and spent the descent slipping and sliding. It’s a rainforest; expect mud and wet roots. 4) Expect Mud: You will get dirty. Bring a change of clothes for the ride back to the ship. 5) Cruisers, Watch the Clock: If your "all aboard" is 4:00 PM or earlier, you’ll need to move fast to summit. It’s a challenge, but absolutely worth it if you have a guide like Wasim. 6) The Secret Perk: If you’re sailing on a Celebrity Edge-class ship, do Wasim a favor and snag some banana or zucchini muffins from the Spa Café. They are his favorite, and you’ll have a friend for life! The Bottom Line: If you love a challenge and want a top-tier team to get you through it, book with JB Taxi & Excursions. Happy hiking!
