Berkeley Memorial – A Historic Landmark As you pass through Basseterre, catch a glimpse of the Berkeley Memorial, a Victorian-style clock tower and drinking fountain at The Circus, the city’s vibrant hub. Erected in 1883 to honor Thomas Berkeley Hardtman Berkeley, a legislator and estate owner, this ornate monument, designed by **George Smith & Co. of Glasgow, is the only surviving structure of its kind. Its four clock faces inspired by London’s Big Ben, make it a standout feature. While this is a pass-by experience, travelers will enjoy: - A glimpse of history, as the memorial has stood for over a century as a symbol of St. Kitts’ heritage. - A view of The Circus, a bustling roundabout inspired by London’s Piccadilly Circus. - Photo opportunities—capture this iconic landmark as you pass. This brief yet memorable moment offers a window into Basseterre’s rich past.
The War Memorial – A Tribute to the Fallen As you pass through Basseterre, you’ll glimpse the War Memorial a solemn obelisk** honoring the servicemen and women of St. Kitts & Nevis who lost their lives in World War I and II. Originally unveiled in 1926 and later relocated to Bay Road in 1955, the monument features two bronze plaques listing the fallen heroes and three tombs, each built from the stone of St. Kitts, Nevis, and Anguilla. While this is a pass-by experience, travelers will witness: - A historical landmark symbolizing courage and sacrifice. - A striking obelisk, weathered over time, yet standing tall as a tribute to the past. - A moment of reflection, passing by a site where Remembrance Day ceremonies still honor the fallen. This brief yet meaningful sight offers a glimpse into the island’s history, preserving the memory of those who served.

My family of 7 booked a private tour for sea glass beach, island tour and a beach to swim and relax at and we had Janeel and his nephew Elly. Two days prior I slipped and sprained my ankle. I notified Janeel and he said I’d be able to do one sea glass beach but not the second due to its rocky terrain. We arrived at the location which had a trail down to the beach. Janeel was right with me the whole way helping with navigation. I sat in a beautiful shady area and watched my family search for sea glass. It was amazing and they thought of everything including a walking stick for me and ice cold beverages and snacks. Then off to Friars beach and The Shipwreck bar that had the best food we had all week. They can custom your tour to make the most of your time on their beautiful island! Thank you both for an unforgettable day!!!

One of my favorite excursions during our vacation, our sea glass hike was awesome! I am not able to handle the more intense hikes (though the views look breathtaking!) but our guides were super happy to help me make the hike to the beach to collect sea glass. My family enjoyed finding different colors and our guide even found two pieces of blue sea glass so that we could each have one, after my partner found a big one. Over all, such a wholesome and fun family experience! We were able to take our glass aboard our boat and I plan to put our collections in glass jars to enjoy forever! Would absolutely do this again along with all tours offered by this company!

Our Wasim, was very friendly and safety conscious. The hike to the second beach is about 1/4 mile over large rocks and other obstacles. Closed toe water shoes are a must.

If you are looking for sea glass, Jameel knows the spots. We were docked for the day on a cruise. Jameel picked us up at the port took us to two amazing beaches. Sea coins, marbles, blues. It was awesome. I’d highly recommend using JB taxi if you’re looking for sea glass.

Due to a cancelation we got a personal tour. Janeel was an extraordinary host taking into account our limitations as a senior couple. He pointed out the best places to look for sea glass and went to some more challenging areas to scoop glass for us. Would highly recommended. Tip: wear your swimwear and bring a change of clothes.

Beautiful time on the black sand beaches. There was plenty of sea glass to go around. Hike was a little difficult obstacle wise, but we had a great time. I would definitely recommend water shoes with some grip. I wore old tennis shoes and they were a little slippery.

If we could give them ten stars we would! Jameel and his crew are great guides and able to adapt to the group he works with. He takes you into areas that are less travelled and more complicated to hike. The results are great, but make sure you can physically do it. Follow the recommendations for what to bring, wear sunscreen, and stay hydrated. He does provide water, juice, and a snack as well. Also, note some cruise lines do not allow shells and sea glass on board any longer. Janeel went above and beyond to help us resolve our disappointment after Celebrity confiscated our sea glass. Good business and great people!

Janeel is an amazing tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and professional. We booked the Sea Glass beach tour which was fantastic. There is a short hike, mild to moderate, but definitely worth it to find the most amazing sea glass (off the beaten path so you have the beach to yourselves). I found some rare colors to add to my collection as well as some pottery. In addition, there were many little critters (tons of little hermit crabs, lizards, and other crabs) which made the experience even better. By far one of my favorite excursions. I highly recommend booking a tour with Janeel. You won't regret it!
