Daan Viljoen Nature Reserve

Our trekkers gets picked up from their respective hotels or apartments at 7h15 early morning and drive approximately 30 minutes to Daan Viljoen Game Reserve for hiking. The reserve is located approximately 24 kilometres outside Windhoek in the scenic Khomas Hockland high hill mountains. This is the Rooibos 9 kilometers hiking trail, plus the 3 kilometers Wag-'n-Bietjie Trail, totaling a distance of 12 kilometers half day Hiking. Here travelers can see diverse wildlife and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities - due to the absence of large predators, making it safe for exploration on foot.

While on Hiking, our travelers can also enjoy viewing some key attraction and activities such as; 1. Wildlife Viewing - giraffe, blue wildebeest, Oryx (gemsbok), kudu, mountain zebra, springbok and other antelopes. 2. Birds Watching - the park is home to over 200 bird species, including endemics like the Monteiro's Hornbill, Ruppell's Parrot, other birds and a dam area with permanent source of water attracting bountiful birdlife. 3. Hiking Trail - travelers can enjoy a guided exploration on well-marked walking paths, learning more about the plants of the reserve including the geology of the Nature Reserve. The hiking trail ends approximately 12h30 in the afternoon. After the hiking, we will walk back to the office and have access to the rest room to freshen up before driving back and arriving to Windhoek approximately 13h30. End of tour.
