What To Expect

The hike begins in the traditional village of Monolithos, located on the undeveloped western side of Rhodes ascending green slopes shaded by pines and cypress trees, with beautiful views over the Bay of Apollakia. The trail gradually becomes more demanding as you navigate rocky sections, rewarding you with incredible photo opportunities at every turn. After the most strenuous part of the ascent you’ll stop at the small historic chapel of Agios Ioannis (St John) to enjoy a traditional Greek snack. From here, the trail continues upward toward the summit. A short rocky scramble marks the final approach, and once you reach the top, the views are nothing short of spectacular. From the summit of Akramitis, you’ll enjoy 360-degree panoramic views over both sides of Rhodes, the lake of Apollakia, inland villages, Mount Attaviros, nearby islands such as Halki, Alimia, and Tilos, and on clear days even Karpathos and the Turkish coastline. The descent follows a different route, leading you through a shaded forest of tall pine trees. Thanks to the dense tree cover and refreshing mountain breeze, this hike can be enjoyed even during warmer days..

  • Group hike Akramidis, Appalakia mountains, Lindos and Rhodes city tours of the city. Simply wonderful!

This group was fantastic. We did two hikes and two city tours with them. The guides were super organized, friendly and they knew their stuff. Although some of the activities were challenging, safety was paramount. The guides were also very knowledgeable about the history of the sites, the fauna and the flora. They were generous in sharing their personal experiences. We hiked late in the season but their love for the activities could be felt in the energy and the personal attention they provided throughout our adventure. They created experiences that were very fun.

A fascinating hike with breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding area. At the beginning of the hike it is relatively steep uphill. Some fitness and hiking boots are required here. There is a small snack break along the way at a small chapel. The food was typical Greek and looked delicious. After the break we head to the summit. Once at the top you have a beautiful view. For the descent, a slightly different route is taken, which is also easier. Overall a recommended hike. The tour guides took good care of us and entertained us very well.
