Starting early from Shoja, you’ll embark on a 7 to 8-hour ride to Kalpa, one of the most scenic spots on your journey. The first highlight is the beautiful Jalori Pass, a unique Himalayan pass known for its lush greenery and dense forests, unlike most high-altitude passes. It’s a perfect blend of adventure and beauty, with towering trees surrounding the route. The road conditions are a mix—50% of the roads are narrow and require careful navigation, while the other half is smoother, allowing for a more relaxed ride. The tarmac is generally good, but the ride remains exciting with twists and turns. As you descend from the pass, the weather warms up. The final stretch to Kalpa offers magnificent views of the Kinnaur Kailash range, making it a rewarding end to a long, adventurous day.

During our 15 day Hymalayan tour, the staff from ME (Nitesh, Sam, Rajesh, Lucky, Rahul and Gyatso) constantly adapted and overcame every obstacle. In the face of natural disasters such as flooding, landslides and unseasonal weather conditions they worked tirelessly to make our experience even better than we were expecting. Nothing was a problem and when we were told by others that a destination was impossible they were happy to accommodate our wishes to push on. 'We never give up' was their mantra and our 'Just send it' attitude gelled perfectly. We were never put in unsafe situations but always allowed to attempt our goals. If you are interested in touring the Himalayas on a motorcycle, these guys are the premier organisation to engage. Cheaper is not better!

I loved the trip. Of course the scenery was spectacular. High mountain desert with all the ups, downs and hundreds of winding turns you could want. I was taught how to ride in the Indian traffic and after a few days it became relatively comfortable. All the places we stayed were clean and had comfortable beds and those are the two things I most value in a stay. The staff at each place were very accommodating. Of course what takes a group trip from very good to above excellent are the people and there are two groups in each trip. The group of riders I joined with from around the world were all fabulous to spend time with on and off the bikes. In the bikes we had a great time riding and getting better at riding on gravel and sand. A big part of that was the route selected by Motorbike Expeditions and the pacing of our days. Off the bikes everyone got along very well and respectfully leading to the forming of new friendships. The other group were the people from Motorbike Expeditions. The owners, guides, drivers, mechanic and photographer were all super helpful. Everyone was very good at their positions. Not only were they good at what they did they were very personable, enthusiastic, encouraging and a genuine pleasure to be around. And to cap it off the cost of their trip was significantly lower priced than other companies I looked at providing the same kind of trip. I really don’t see how any other company could have provided as good an experience as Motorbike Expeditions gave me and my fellow riders.

I felt compelled to write a review following the experience of the 14 day Indian Himalaya trip just completed From the moment trip was muted by a good friend my interest was peaked, as I enjoy sharing a biking experience with friends and this seemed like the ultimate adventure ! When we had decided that this was the trip for us the communication from this company was excellent, with fantastic footage of previous trips, photos, videos, and excellent reviews, we all felt sure that choice of Motorbike Expeditions was a good one, as it seemed a very complete package and very good value for money compared to other operators of similar trips. When we arrived at the airport in Kullu, Bhuntar, we were greated by Alshay and his team, and felt very welcomed and impressed from day one how professional Motorbike Expeditions came across, and on arrival to our 1st accommodation, we were equally impressed with the quality of the hotel selected, and there we met the rest of the team and were introduced to the royal Enfield Himalayan 410cc bikes, which looked excellent for the job in hand, and were neatly clean and presented in an immaculate line, ready for our use. The following day we had a short “introductory” ride just to familiarise ourselves with the bikes and terrain, which was great to get a grip on their handling and operation. From the next day the adventure started in earnest, and over the 9 days on the bikes, at different locations, accommodations, and altitudes, we were treated to absolutely breath taking views, places, and riding experiences over every type of terrain, Tarmac, Gravel, Sand, mud and river / stream crossings. This whole trip has been a Bucket list, once in a lifetime event that through Motorbike Expeditions, has been a pleasure to be part of due to their maticulous planning, experience as they guided us expertly through the Himalayas , with fantastic é knowledge of the culture and surroundings and local knowledge, but what has really set the experience apart was how much effort and care was put into ensuring that everyone on the trip was looked after and guided through each days activities with briefings and debriefings in each accommodation, as they were always on hand to ensure we had the best time. It’s clear Akshay with his knowledge of the places and routes, has tailored this adventure to ensure expectations are exceeded, by providing unparalleled service throughout with his colleagues, the support staff, who were with us every step of the way, and they all demonstrated a desire to serve and care about our needs everyday, from the other guides to the mechanics, support vehicle driver And the videographer, making sure there was plenty of footage both stills and action shots, to give us a keepsake to remember the many amazing by moments. Motorbike Expeditions went above and beyond to include: * A rest day, in which they provided a free trip to 3 of the local monasteries, taking us there and back, and guiding us and imparting information on the sites * Free water everyday making sure we were adequately hydrated * Breakfast and diner * Entertainment one evening at one of the locations we stayed at, making that a memorable night * a presentation dinner with gifts They truly made this adventure an experience we’ll never forget and I can’t recommend their services highly enough, and it’s not hard to see why their reviews speak for themselves as they provide an incredible experience and service / support package, and along with the experience we made lasting friends of likeminded people that we shared the trip with. Thank you and I know we all hope to see you guys again on another adventure.

Really amazing trip, which wasn't just a fantastic ride, but an unforgettable life experience. This was my first international moto trip, and the Motorbike Expedition team will be a tough act to follow for any of my trips planned for the future. Everyone on the team was very proud and professional in representing their company and their country, but also very laid back and easy to chat and get along with. Any small issues with the bikes were taken care of extremely quickly with zero drama. They made sure everyone was safe and taken care of throughout the whole trip. I really don't have any negative feedback for their team, and I am excited that I got the opportunity to join this trip with such a great support crew and riding group. I would recommend anyone interested in pursuing this trip have several years of street riding experience, as managing the hectic traffic and unpredictable road conditions requires a lot of focus. There is some mild offroading on this trip, but several people in our group arrived with no prior offroad experience and did fine leaning on their street riding experience and good attitudes. If you have been considering a trip like this, stop waiting and sign up with Motorbike Expeditions.

Motorcycle expeditions in the Himalayas are renowned for offering some of the most exhilarating and scenic rides in the world. Here are key aspects to consider: Scenery and Routes 1. Stunning Landscapes: The Himalayas offer breathtaking landscapes with snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, lush forests, and pristine rivers. Iconic routes like Manali to Leh, Spiti Valley, and the Kashmir Great Lakes provide unforgettable views. 2. Challenging Terrain: The roads range from well-paved highways to rugged, off-road trails. Riders encounter a mix of steep ascents, sharp turns, and high-altitude passes like Khardung La and Rohtang Pass. Popular Routes 1. Spiti Valley: Known for its stark, high-altitude desert landscapes, Spiti Valley offers routes that traverse remote areas, ancient monasteries, and unique cultural experiences. 2. Srinagar to Leh: This route includes scenic views of Dal Lake, the beautiful landscapes of Sonamarg, and the high-altitude Zoji La pass. Cultural Experiences • Monasteries and Villages: Expeditions often include visits to ancient monasteries like Hemis, Thiksey, and Key Monastery. Regular maintenance checks are crucial. 3. Gear and Supplies: Essential gear includes quality riding gear, a first-aid kit, spare parts, and tools. Carrying sufficient water, food, and fuel is important, especially in remote areas. Ive waited a week or so until I posted a review after returning from a recent tour with Motorbike Expeditions, so that I could let it all sink in.... When you sign up for a tour of the high Himalayas you dont have a clear idea on many aspects of the tour; the difficulty of the terrain, the suitability and condition of the motorbikes, the overnight accommodation and many many other things. I'm very impressed indeed with the overall professionalism and slick operation of the tour provider, everything worked very well and all the supporting staff, from the back-up vehicle drivers to the motor engineers all functioned excellently and with a permanent toothy smile on their faces. I would have to give Motorbike Expeditions a 10/10 for all aspects of the tour. I have to add in closing that the tour isnt a walk in the park, the roads are tough/dusty and the other road users are unforgiving, the routes are challenging and overnight accommodation is in some places spartan, bit not to forget that you are riding on the highest routes on the planet, so dont expect western European levels of comfort. Bikers, by nature, are adventurers, and if you want to go on a real adventure that you'll remember for a lifetime, dont delay, sign up today, you'll return home as a different person, enlightened and more appreciative of your home comforts, but with an appetite to keep searching for the next adventure !! PS you'll need to like curry!

Completed the 17 day Himalaya tour this past June. Enjoyed every minute of it. Motorbike Expeditions (ME) did a great job. The accommodations were great, the guides attentive, great support staff and the scenery was amazing!! I am planing to use ME for other trips in India in the near future. I would say this. This is not a trip for someone new to motorcycling or not use to roughing it. Some of the accommodations were tents the riding was challenging. About 40 off road. Not hard off road, mostly hard pack and river crossings. A street rider who is experienced can complete the trip with no issues. If you have dirt experience even better. The accommodations were great for the locations where we were at. But understand you will be in remote areas so these are not holiday inns. Go with an open attitude and you will have a great time. Highly recommend.
