Atomic Bomb Dome
The A-Bomb Dome, or Genbaku Dome, is one of Hiroshima's most iconic and haunting landmarks, preserved as a stark reminder of the devastating atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Originally the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, this structure was one of the few buildings near the epicenter to survive the blast, though it was severely damaged. Its skeletal remains have since been carefully maintained as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing the resilience of Hiroshima’s people and their commitment to peace. Visitors to the A-Bomb Dome can walk around the structure, observing its preserved state, and reflect on the immense destruction caused by nuclear weapons. It stands as a powerful testament to the horrors of war and a call to action for global nuclear disarmament, offering a profound and sobering experience for all who visit.

We had a great tour with Kazuko. She worked with us to customize a tour perfect for what we wanted to see. We saw some great sites, and she was very knowledgeable about the local history, having grown up in Hiroshima. Book this tour and request Kazuko, you won’t regret it.

We were excited to take the tour. It never happened because of poor communication with tour operator and disconnect between Trip Advisor and Viator systems. The operator failed to message us for a month about where we were staying. Since I still did not hear from them, I contacted them day before the event in the message app. Again they were delayed responding to later in the day. They didn’t mention anything was wrong in the address provided. They said we would get a message in Whats App. What is not explained is that if you update information in Trip Advisor after booking, it doesn’t update a message to tour provider and the tour provider didn’t confirm number in communication. We cannot see what they see and didn’t know they had a wrong number. Since the address was odd, they went to a local hotel instead of the address. Interesting thing is we were able to find place using the same address. We tried contacting the agency at 0905 when they didn’t show where we were located, however, they failed to answer the phone or message us back. We called Viator and they couldn’t get a hold of them. After 30 minutes we still had no contact. When they did get in touch I asked to cancel. The company bothered me for information as we were touring. We tried to work it put and they would not accept any responsibility or refund the full amount. Do not waste your money. We did the same tour for 1/10th the price on our own.

Heartfelt tour or should I say journey that took us from the tranquil grounds of Miyajima to the historic tragedy of Hiroshima. Our tour guide, Reika, was phenomenal. Her grandmother survived the atomic bomb and was recognized in the Hiroshima Memorial. We also visited Reika’s elementary school that had a special Hiroshima Memorial. I highly recommend taking this tour.

Took a day trip to Hiroshima and was relatively short on time, but John did a great job filling the time i had with great insight and information. He is a true historical, if you’re looking for a way to to see things with no real context, or you find the historical talk to be boring, this isn’t a tour for you.My day started in a local coffee shop with john giving me the background on the events surrounding and leading up to the bomb. He’s brilliant, incredible recall and details of even the smallest intricacies. John’s wife and mother in law were both survivors of the bombing, so do do this tour, with a historical woven into the history itself was s a once in a lifetime treat. Highly recommend if you’re interested in my context than just sight seeing

While the tour was incredible, our tour guide, Sanae, was the highlight of it. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was just a fun companion to have on the trip. The food was amazing. The sites were great. The entire experience was simply fantastic.

We had a wonderful day with Kazuko exploring Hiroshima and Miyajima. She was fun to be with and was very informative about both places. It was touching to learn that her mother was a survivor of the A-bomb - so sad. We would definitely recommend Kazuko to anyone wanting to learn about these places - money well spent.

Our guide Rie was very good and gave us lots of information. We loved Miyajima island and were very moved by the Dome and Peace Park. It was very emotional for us to have a resident of Hiroshima as our guide.

Our guide, Senae, was informative, as well as personable, and seemed more like a friend than a guide. We spent a half day with her at Miyajima Island, which allowed plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful views of the torii gate "floating" on the water. We also explored the Itsukushima Shrine and Daisho-in Temple, plus sampled some traditional snacks. Senae met us at our hotel, which was convenient and hassle free, and accompanied us on the subway and ferry . Senae shared interesting information about Miyajima iIsland, and she answered our questions about Japanese culture. Senae also took some wonderful photos of us throughout our tour. She provided tips on the food and shops and even showed me how to fold a paper crane (origami). Senae exceeded our expectations and made this day special for us.

"Lucky" was the nickname of our guide because her Japanese name means "lucky child." Lucky took care of us, escorting us on a train, onto a ferry, and later on a tram ride. It was nice traveling with regular Japanese people just living their daily lives. Lucky showed us there was so much more to Miyajima and the glorious vermillion Torii gate than we would have expected or would have experienced without her guidance. She also successfully directed us to the places of importance around the Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum. She helped us order our lunch in a tiny authentic Japanese eatery where we might have been the only Westerners there. Lucky has been a guide for about a year and is continuing to work on her English. She is kind and courteous and will endeavor to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.
