Atomic Bomb Dome
The A-Bomb Dome, or Genbaku Dome, is one of Hiroshima's most iconic and haunting landmarks, preserved as a stark reminder of the devastating atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Originally the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, this structure was one of the few buildings near the epicenter to survive the blast, though it was severely damaged. Its skeletal remains have since been carefully maintained as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing the resilience of Hiroshima’s people and their commitment to peace. Visitors to the A-Bomb Dome can walk around the structure, observing its preserved state, and reflect on the immense destruction caused by nuclear weapons. It stands as a powerful testament to the horrors of war and a call to action for global nuclear disarmament, offering a profound and sobering experience for all who visit.

Our guide had an incredible amount of knowledge about Japan and the Hiroshima area. However we booked this tour expecting to be able to tailor it to what we wanted to do but our guide had a set tour in mind which is what we did. This had pros and cons. The pros were a visit to an elementary school museum showing the effect of the bombing on the local children which we would have missed if he had not taken us there and which is a hidden gem. The cons were no down time to explore areas further on our own.

We had a great full day experience. Everything went well from the initial communication, to meeting up, entry into the museums and exhibits was all seamless. Kazuko had a good, flexible schedule for us that covered Hiroshima and the dropping of the atomic bomb as well as a side trip to Itsukushima island. Pricing was fair and upfront. We had a really enjoyable full day with Kazuko. Family of four (2x adults , 2x kids) visiting in Jan . 2026

Kuzuko took our family on a great trip of Miyajima and Hiroshima! We were on a day trip from Kyoto and she met us at the train station where we then went to Miyajima near high tide to see the torii gate of the Itsukushima Shrine. It was just after New Years and she avoided the 2 hour line to get into the shrine and took us to locations with equally amazing views of the gate and shrine. From there we went to Hiroshima to the sites around the hypocenter where the atomic bomb was dropped. The locations she took us took and her narration did an excellent job of portraying the nature and severity of the damage caused by the bomb and included her relaying a personal story of how her mother survived the event. Kuzuko was ready with all transit passes and made sure that our travel was quick and easy. She left us back at the train station with a good recommendation for dinner prior to our return trip to Kyoto in the evening. Highly recommend Kuzuko and the trip!

Fight nice tour guide! Taked us on several events we would never visit ourselves, but which definitely was a great experience. Told us a lot of exciting information about Japanese culture and the history behind it. Definitely recommend this guide!

Taka was great and very relaxed. I booked this the night before and the details were sorted within hours. My buddy and I are 31 and having Taka guide us was more like spending a few hours with another one of the boys than it was having a tour guide. The morning to early afternoon was laid back and not overly “tourism” feeling. The 2 week trip we’re on was meant to feel more realistic and casual. This Miyajima island half day continued that theme easily.

We pd for 4 hr tour of Miyajima and after a 1 1/2 ride there by street car we were shown around a couple, tourist filled, sights and then at hour three our guide left us. So really 3 hours and only half of that time was in Miyajima. He did recommend a good restaurant. Don’t waste your money, go on your own, it is easy to get to and find your way around! The o-torii gate is a sight to behold and the Daisho-in temple is wonderful, with it’s 1000s of Buddha statues scattered everywhere, though full of tourists you can find quiet corners to soak in the beauty and energy.
