Atomic Bomb Dome
The A-Bomb Dome, or Genbaku Dome, is one of Hiroshima's most iconic and haunting landmarks, preserved as a stark reminder of the devastating atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Originally the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, this structure was one of the few buildings near the epicenter to survive the blast, though it was severely damaged. Its skeletal remains have since been carefully maintained as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing the resilience of Hiroshima’s people and their commitment to peace. Visitors to the A-Bomb Dome can walk around the structure, observing its preserved state, and reflect on the immense destruction caused by nuclear weapons. It stands as a powerful testament to the horrors of war and a call to action for global nuclear disarmament, offering a profound and sobering experience for all who visit.

We didn't realise it was a walking tour. It was enjoyable but walked lots of steps. Our guide looked after us very well but I would not recommend it for people with mobility issues

We had an absolutely incredible experience on our tour yesterday with Gajender! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and thoughtfully executed. Gajender was not only knowledgeable and professional but also incredibly kind, patient, and engaging. He is a PhD student and is a wealth of knowledge. Our visit to Hiroshima was deeply moving—Gajender guided us with sensitivity and insight, providing historical context that added so much meaning to each site. Later, the trip to Miyajima Island was a beautiful contrast. The island's serene beauty, combined with Gajender’s commentary and helpful tips, made it a truly magical part of the day. We appreciated the smooth coordination, well-paced itinerary, and the extra care Gajender took to ensure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. This tour exceeded all our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Gajender, for making our day and all Of our Japan trip so memorable! You have new friends.

It is a walking tour. Because of the extreme heat it was very uncomfortable. However, in spite of that our guide John was very knowledgeable and personable.
