Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200

Yugi was an extremely hospitable guide and ensured we were well informed the whole tour. One of the best tour guides we have encountered.

Sei is one of the most courteous, insightful, and genuinely kind guides I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. As luck would have it, I was the only guest booked on the day of my tour, which made the experience even more personal. Sei is softly spoken, yet every word he shares is thoughtful, meaningful, and deeply considered. We spent the morning learning about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Sei helped me understand not just the history, but the human reality behind it — what happened on that fateful day in August 1945, and how it changed the world forever. Visiting the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Park, and the museum, watching the film, and listening to Sei’s commentary left a lasting and humbling impression on me. We travelled around the city using several forms of public transport, which helped me get my bearings and gain a real sense of Hiroshima’s layout, rhythm, and everyday life. Seeing local people going about their day added another layer of meaning to the experience. For lunch, Sei took me to a traditional local restaurant where I tried Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki for the first time. Watching it being cooked on the hot plate in front of me was a wonderful experience — and the food itself was simply delicious. In the afternoon, we took the ferry to Miyajima Island. The shrine, the freely roaming deer, the sea views, and the peaceful atmosphere made the visit truly unforgettable. Sei then kindly escorted me back to my hotel, and I realised I had just experienced something very special. I have travelled to more than 50 countries and taken countless tours, and I can honestly say this was one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences I have ever had. Sei’s voice is soft and gentle, yet his message is powerful. He conveys, with great dignity, that weapons of mass destruction — no matter the justification — are inhumane and unethical. If you have the opportunity to visit Hiroshima, you would be incredibly fortunate to spend time with Sei. He is a remarkable guide and an even more remarkable person.

Fabulous tour with Sei. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone travelling especially with kids 10+. It’s an important educational lesson for future generations to learn from the unnecessary acts of the past, Sei is a great guy. I hope I’m as active and engaging at 79 years old!! As a Hiroshima resident his explanation and understanding of what the area went through is something that stays with you. For me, it is an absolute must!! We were staying in Osaka, had our luggage transferred to Kyoto and we got the train down to Hiroshima then at 6pm got the bullet up to Kyoto. Definitely the way to do it.

Our private tour to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island was the highlight of our Osaka trip. Our guide, Yuji-san was beyond excellent. He came well prepared providing us literature to read while on the train. These reading materials were put together personally by himself. He possesses an incredible amount of knowledge of the history and culture of Hiroshima and Miyajima, not to mention his sense of humor to take the edge off of the sensitivity and seriousness of the war. This tour is a must if you find yourself near Osaka.

Wonderful tour, very interesting Sei our guide was so helpful and kept in contact with me in the lead up to the date. Everything worked super well. Love Miyajima and Peace Park was like nothing you've ever experienced. Quite a lot of walking and use of public transport, so if you can't talk long distances, be warned. Definitely recommend this tour.

Mr. Kazuhisa To is a fantastic guide for a tour of Hiroshima! The tour was well planned and executed. It covered a variety of interesting sites from the moving bombing memorial and museum to the peaceful shrine and temple on Miyajima. The restaurants selected for lunch, snack, etc. were also great, with delicious food and unique settings. I enjoyed every minute of it and had a very memorable day. Mr. To is a knowledgable and friendly guide, who speaks excellent English and is always happy to answer questions. Highly recommended! (Wear comfortable shoes, considerable walking involved.)

Our tour was outstanding, our guide Sei was amazing and just as wonderful as the tour itself. Such a gentle kind man that had outstanding knowledge of the Hiroshima bombing. Sei didn't try and hide the horrible truth about that day. He made the entire day interesting and spoke to all 4 of us when he spoke and remembered everyone's name. I highly recommend this tour and I would highly recommend Sei as your guide. I wish Sei all the best in his future and we will never forget him. Great Ramen too Sei 😃😀👍.

Our Tour Guide Yuji was so well organised and his holistic approach suited the tour perfectly. Yuji was in contact with us weeks before the tour introducing himself and then he met us at the train station. He had pre-prepared booklets of information about the temples, the island and also Hiroshima Peace Park. He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We felt that he allowed us to gain the maximum experience from the time we spent with hi in Hiroshima. Highly recommended!!

My wife and I toured the city with our wonderful local guide, Yuko. She bought the story of destruction, suffering, survival and rebirth to life. First, we visited the hypocenter, Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park and the Peace Memorial Museum. We then shared a delicious local meal and learned how meaningful the food is to the people of Hiroshima. After lunch, we took the ferry to Miyajima, where we toured the Itsukushima Shrine, Daisho-in Temple and stopped into a local store. Again, Yuko brought these places to life by tying her life journey to the shrine and temple. If you are visiting Hiroshima, I highly recommend this tour. Ask for Yuko for your guide!

Yuji was an excellent guide and would highly recommend 10/10!! He brought so much knowledge and insight into our day. He made our experience so much more memorable than if we had done it by ourselves. If you are thinking of a guided tour, book Yuji, he was fantastic!
