Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200

We had the absolute pleasure of having Sei as our tour guide for the eight hour tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. From the moment I booked Sei was in contact via our WhatsApp chat. He wanted to know what we were most looking forward to seeing so he could work the itinerary around that. We planned to meet in the lobby of our hotel and he was there 10 minutes before our meeting time, we were greeted with a extremely well dressed man with a friendly smile and a warm welcome to us. I had mentioned to Sei that we wanted to see as much as we could in the eight hours so he suggested that to save some time we take a cab to a couple of the places we were quite happy to do that and it did save time. We had the most amazing eight hours with Sei he’s knowledge of the local areas and the history is fantastic. He was able to answer any questions we had and would also add little tip bits.He knew all the best places to take photos so instead of queueing with many others for the perfect shot, he had other places that were just as good if not better. In between Miyajima Island and going to the Peace Park Sei took us to a local place for Okonomiyaki Hiroshima style OMG The Best Okonomiyaki we had in Japan, it was fascinating to watch them make them and eat with locals . Sei was a wealth of knowledge about the Atom Bomb as we walked around the park and visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Done), Peace Park Flame , Children’s Peace Monument ,Peace Memorial Museum. It really is a must do place to visit and it certainly is an emotional experience. Having Sei there to talk us through what we were seeing and the history behind it was so beneficial and I don’t think we would have got as much out of the day if we hadn’t had him as our tour guide . If you are planing on visiting Hiroshima I definitely recommend you ask for Sei, you won’t regret it .

We had a fantastic day with our local guide Lisa. The tour was well thought out and all transfers and destinations were smooth and enjoyable. Lisa gave us an amazing experience and we would highly recommend this tour to have a full overview of Hiroshima. We enjoyed beautiful fresh oysters and Okonomiyaki in a local setting. So much fun, Thankyou Lisa.

Hiroshi took us on a great tour of his town of Miyajima near to Hiroshima and Hiroshima bomb site and Museum. Miyajima’s shrine in the water was very cool and unique. The area’s deer were so adorable and calm. Hiroshima’s museum was powerful and not for the faint of heart, but as with the eternal flame shows the importance particularly with a global increase in nuclear threat.

Tomoe was absolutely a fantastic guide. She was so knowledgeable and kept us interested the entire day. Weeks before we arrived Tomoe sent us three options for sites to see and worked very hard to personalize the tour to our interests. When we got done our three kids told us that was the best tour on our trip. If you can request Tomoe you won’t be disappointed.

We booked a one day private tour with Hiroshi Tsuji and it was an excellent way to make the most of our limited time in Hiroshima. Hiroshi met us at our hotel and we walked the short distance to the Hiroshima Peace Museum. The museum focuses on the effects of the atom bomb on the city and its inhabitants; mostly women, young people and the elderly at the time the bomb was dropped as the men were away fighting. It’s very moving, but also disturbing and doesn’t shy away from showing the absolute horror of the aftermath of the bomb. Hiroshi pointed out some things we’d have otherwise missed and shared stories of some of the survivors. After the museum we walked through the Peace Park, past the exact site of the bomb detonation above the city, to a small local restaurant for lunch. The local specialty is “Okonomiyaki” a sort of pancake with cabbage and noodles - it’s very good. We then took the fast (45 minute) ferry to Miyajima Island. Miyajima is known for its Torii gate that sits in the water and appears to float at high tide. We were lucky to see the gate “floating” in the sea. Miyajima is also known for for the tame deer that roam the streets, unperturbed by the many tourists that visit every day. Hiroshi was able to guide us away from the throngs of tourists to quieter parts of the town and give us an idea of what it’s like to live on this beautiful island. At the end of the afternoon we took the ferry back to the Peace Park. We had an excellent day thanks to Hiroshi, and really enjoyed his company.

Our tour guide yoko shimada was so great! It took a minute for us all to get comfortable but she is so adorable and accommodating in every aspect. She is knowledgeable in the tour and can answer most every question. It’s really nice that she shares her family and experiences too. She honesty makes a point to connect with each of our interests and connects with them. Playing games and making paper cranes to prepare u for what’s to come is completely comforting. She even checks up to make sure we were ok after museum tour and that we got back to hotel ok and takes note on all of us. We hope to see her again sometime❤️

Very educational and a wonderful tour with Yuki. When we travel to a place with a lot of history, I like hiring a local tour so we can learn better and not simply look at the buildings and google the info. Yuki prepped us ahead of time and we synced up the expectations from our day well in advance, including all the fees etc we will be paying at each location. She did not rush us, but kept the time in check so we were able execute the plan perfectly. (And we didn’t panic about catching the Shinkansen at the end of our trip). Ac

Our tour guide of historic Hiroshima was Akie. We found her to be a delightful person who was a pleasure to travel with. Our 8 hour tour was really excellent and Akie was a genuine fountain of knowledge. She spoke good English which was a great help for us (Australians). The fee was good value for money given that it was a personalised tour which lasted all day. Overall a wonderful experience
