Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200

Our day with Hiroshi Tsuji was without doubt one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of our entire trip to Japan. Hiroshi began by guiding us through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum, and the Atomic Bomb Dome — a deeply moving experience that he navigated with great sensitivity, knowledge, and respect. His explanations gave us a profound understanding of the history and the enduring message of peace that Hiroshima carries. What truly set Hiroshi apart, however, was how far he went beyond the role of a typical guide. He took us to enjoy okonomiyaki, Hiroshima’s beloved local specialty, and it was absolutely delicious — a wonderful authentic touch we would never have found on our own. We genuinely appreciated the effort he made to organize this for us. The afternoon on Miyajima was equally special. As a Miyajima local himself, Hiroshi knew exactly which quiet streets and hidden corners to take us through, allowing us to experience the island’s true beauty away from the tourist crowds. These are the kinds of experiences that no itinerary can ever plan for, and we felt truly honoured. To top off a perfect day, Hiroshi escorted us to a wonderful restaurant he had thoughtfully reserved for us on the way back. Hiroshi is not just an exceptional guide — he is a warm, generous, and incredibly knowledgeable person. We cannot thank him enough, and we wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima.

This was a great experience from start to end. Mari-san and I started communicating shortly after booking the tour which was a few months before the actual trip. She asked what my wife and I would like to do and she came up with the itinerary for the day based on our requests which included the peace museum/park a local Okinomiyaki shop for lunch and Miyajima island. Mari met us at the train station in the morning and from there out everything went smoother than I could have imagined. She was super personable and very easy to talk to and her knowledge of historical events in Hiroshima was quite extensive. She was able to provide stories and context that I do no think you would pick up on just by reading placards in the peace museum or around the town. She was also able to save so much time by knowing exactly which buses/trains/ferries to hit and when. As we were hitting Hiroshima as a day trip from Osaka this was worth it from start to end. No stress fantastic guide and a fantastic day start to end!

We had an excellent day under the guidance and direction of Sei our guide for Hiroshima / Mirajima Island. Having a guide takes all the stress and planning out of such a visit and Sei was very knowledgable. We really appreciate the Okonmayaiki Restaurant chosen for lunch. Sensational. Would thoroughly recommend Sei as a guide and the day he provided.

A necessary visit so that we do not forget the barbarity of the atomic bomb. Despite the seriousness, the guide Tomo led the tour with lightness and sympathy. Visit to Miyajima island, interesting, possible beautiful photos, especially if the water rises and the Torii gate stays in the water.

We loved our trip to Myajima Island with Mickie, where we enjoyed the Torii Gate, Itsukushima Shrine, and the 500 Rakan statues in the Dashio temple garden, each with their little knitted hats. She is so knowledgeable & we learned a lot. Mickie suggested having oysters for lunch which was a great suggestion. Myajima is famous for its oysters. They served them crumbed & fried & they were delicious. We also visited Peace Park, Hiroshima Castle & Shukkeien Gardens. Mickie collected us from our hotel lobby (very convenient) and accompanied us back via the streetcar (tram). Overall, a great experience & I would wholeheartedly recommend Mickie.

Just a great overall Hiroshima tour that was both culturally and historically significant for us. Our guide Hiroshi was truly awesome and took us to the planned places as well as additional ideas and locations he knew about that we never would have found on our own. He was terrific. Highly recommend this one day tour to get you around Hiroshima and Miyajima!

My wife and I were travelling Japan on the Shinkansen using a JR Pass and spent 3 days in Hiroshima. This was a pre-booked tour and one of the best of the trip. Our guide Kazuhisa was absolutely brilliant, he met us early in our hotel lobby and took us on a full day tour involving buses, trains and ferries to see the sites of Miyajima and the sobering experience of the Hiroshima Dome and Peace Museum, with a stop for a great lunch of local cuisine along the way. Thank You Kazuhisa for taking us on such a fascinating tour and for putting up with all our photos along the way. It was so informative and interesting, we learned a lot from you, more politicians should visit Hiroshima.

The most fantastic and memorable day! Hiroshi our guide was so knowledgeable and attentive. It made it extra special having someone from Mayajima and Hiroshima sharing his personal experiences and stories. I would thoroughly recommend Hiroshi. Everything ran smoothly and he was able to suggest excellent lunch and coffee options. Our best day in Japan so far. Thank you Hiroshi.

We had a fantastic day in Hiroshima with Hiroko Hayashi! She was a very caring person, explaining all the important spots on our route. And recommended us the Hiroshima lunch we ever had in our live. Even in spite of the history of the city she managed to give us a comfortable feel while visiting Hiroshima!
