Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200

It’s a nice experience off the Diamond Princess cruise. The morning was solemn visiting the museum and the hypocenter. The afternoon at Miyajima was relaxing. The okonomiyaki was delicious. The tour guide was knowledgeable but left us at the high speed boat station at the end of the trip. It would have been nice to be escorted back to the cruise… as the route back was not entirely obvious.

Mari was a fantastic guide !!! I hope you get her when you book this tour!!! She is charming and quite knowledgeable . We had some poignant moments at the peace park and such interesting insights into the Japanese culture and history. She knows the ins and outs taking us a bit off the beaten track as requested. And we had a great lunch !!!! The traditional Japanese layered pancake whose name I cannot spell. I look forward some day to returning and meeting up again with dear Mari!

Eiji was waiting for us with a sign as soon as we got off our cruise ship. He was full of educational information knowledge of the city, patient with our pace & laughed with us. He made sure we had a full day of site seeing while making sure we got back to our cruise ship port on time. If you're cruising & looking for tours, go with Viator instead of booking thru cruise ship. Much more personable tour with guide & you'll see more. We rode taxis, boat, trains & walked through so many sites in Hiroshima. Long but very enjoyable day.

We had the best day in Hiroshima with Akie! Everything was planned and discussed before which led to a magnificent day in town. We saw, we ate, we experienced, and we enjoyed. I hope you will get the same trip when you visit.

We booked this full-day tour directly with Japan Guide Agency/JGA, and we're very glad we did. The day was filled with history, fascinating insights, and unforgettable memories. Our guide, Yoko-san, was exceptional—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and always mindful of our schedule, ensuring we made the most of our time. If you have the opportunity, this tour is absolutely a must-do. Highly recommended!

Yoko-san was the best! She took good care of us and even made an adventure sticker book to help keep my 4 year old daughter engaged. She had great communication beforehand to help us personalize the tour around our daughter, and even made sure to ask all the snack and lunch places about my food allergies. The tour was flexible for our slower pace due to the stroller. Our daughter loved all the gifts from Yoko-san that gave the tour a personal touch which made the day special for us all. Thank you Yoko-san!

Sei was a terrific guide for our 8 hour tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He clearly enjoyed showing us around his hometown. He checked the tide tables to make sure that we were able to see the floating torii gate at Miyajima close to high tide (if you go at low tide, the torii gate will be completely on the same). He took us to a very small local restaurant. We sat a counter that had about 8 seats in the whole restaurant and watched the owner prepare our meal on the hot skillet in front of us. Loved the true local experience! He gave us a choice of restaurants for lunch. Had delicious Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (highly recommend this dish!). The second part of our day was at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and surrounding sights. Sei was very good at explaining the background of these sights. Overall a full day. Would definitely recommend Sei for your tour guide!
