Theaterplatz
Welcome to Theaterplatz—one of Dresden’s most impressive and architecturally striking squares. Surrounded by some of the city’s most important landmarks, this plaza offers a breathtaking view into Dresden’s cultural and historical heart. Dominating the scene is the elegant Semper Opera House, a masterpiece of 19th-century architecture and a symbol of the city’s deep musical heritage. Nearby, you’ll see the magnificent Zwinger Palace with its ornate baroque flair, and the former royal residence, the Residenzschloss, rich with Saxon history as well as the Dresden Cathedral rising with quiet grandeur. Ask your guide to point out the Old Masters Gallery from here.
The Dresden Zwinger
Designed as a single sculptural entity, the Zwinger was to serve as the opulent entrance to a grand new royal palace that was never built. It is a reminder of the exotic and fantastic festivities once held here 300 years ago. Learn about the man who commissioned it- larger than life, ambitious and a lover of beauty in every form. His legacy endures in the Zwinger and he is to be found in every detail small and big. If time permits and if open, your guide may be able to show you an open-air grotto, well hidden from general view.

Karen was an exceptional tour guide. She gave us an incredible insight into the history of Dresden from its formation to its reformation and rebuild after world war 2. information was comunicated with ease and Karen's passion and knowledge of her subject was evident. We cannot speak highly enough of this experience and being part of a smal group with a guide like this was a real blessing. Highly recommended.

My walking tour guide was Karen Reimann, who provided an especially informative tour of the city center. Instead of "this statue is of St. Somebody, etc." she provided a living history of the city, its communist era and its recent rebuilding.

Karen was very pleasant, well informed and generous with her time. We learned a great deal, including resetting some misperceptions we’d had about some of the history. This is a beautiful city, well worth visiting, and we recommend taking this tour to better understand the context of what you see.

Leo was fun and knowledgeable. Went out of his way to ask our interests and led a great-paced tour. Proud of his city and it showed.

Laura was a wonderful tour guide! So knowledgeable, interesting and kind. She was willing and able to answer all our questions and we learned so much about the history of Dresden. Definitely one of the best tours we’ve ever been on and we’ve taken many over the years!

Very good introduction to Dresden with an overview of history to modern day. Most major attractions were seen with guidance and recommendations on how to see others. Headsets were not provided so mad it difficult with our group of 15 to hear guide at times. Laura our guide was excellent. Perfect pace and very accommodating to all questions. Look forward to using this company again. Hopefully with Headsets if group is larger than 4

Our tour was great and gave a good overview of old town Dresden. The only problem was we had around 18 people on our tour and it was very hard to hear Leo. It would have been much better if we could have heard him
