An Post General Post Office
HQ of the 1916 Rising in Dublin is our first stop on the tour The GPO, or General Post Office, in Dublin, Ireland, was the central site of the 1916 Easter Rising, a rebellion against British rule. Led by figures like Patrick Pearse and James Connolly, Irish republicans aimed to establish an independent Irish Republic. The rebels seized key locations, including the GPO, proclaiming the Irish Republic. Despite fierce fighting, the uprising failed due to lack of public support and British military strength. The GPO's symbolic significance endured, and the Easter Rising contributed to the eventual establishment of the Irish Free State and Republic of Ireland.
Trinity College Dublin
Stopping outside of Trinity College Dublin at College Green to go through some of the history of the oldest university in Ireland Trinity College Dublin, founded in 1592, epitomizes Ireland's academic heritage. Georgian architecture and manicured lawns offer a picturesque backdrop to centuries of scholarly pursuit. Trinity's intellectual legacy spans diverse disciplines, attracting students and scholars worldwide. Beyond academia, it serves as a cultural nexus, hosting exhibitions and events year-round. Guided tours provide insights into its storied history and notable alumni. Trinity College Dublin stands as a timeless symbol of Ireland's intellectual prowess, inviting visitors to explore its rich heritage and vibrant campus ambiance.

We are very pleased with our enthusiastic guide Donal, if was both knowledgeable and had a twinkle in his eye. Got both a lot of history from this local patriot and also tips on places to look closer at. Donal answered all our questions knowledgeably.

Talks a lot about people and years. Talking fast and not so clear. Much that he has been through himself and less on Dublin.

An interesting walk around the centre of Dublin. Donal was really informative and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Would highly recommend as we discovered areas we would never have visited. Enjoyed learning how to pull a perfect pint of Guiness too!

Donal was very knowledgeable and told things as they were. The tour took us to places off the beaten path. Pouring our own Guinness was also fun.

Donal was very kind. He's a lovely, cheerful and fun man. He was always very helpful to us. We could ask him anything, and he always had an answer ready. He knew how he had to talk to us. Therefore, we were able to understand what he was telling us. We believe that the tour was more engaging for everyone when he made jokes. We really enjoyed our time with him. Thank you very much, Donal. We will never forget you <3 The students of 3° A TUR, ISS Saraceno Romegialli, Morbegno (Italy) and their teacher, Ms Pellegatta

What a great experience! Donal provided us with a wonderful, witty and thoroughly enjoyable historical experience of Dublin. As a family we have done many historical walking tours abroad over the years but this one is on our own doorstep and I and so happy we experienced it.
