We are the only Tauranga based tour company with a Hobbiton trained tour guide. When you join us on tour you will also have free Wi-Fi and USB charging points in the vehicle. We are also provide refreshments and snacks during our tour.
You and your travelling companions can experience the best of Tauranga and the renowned 'Hobbiton' with assurance of knowing we have you in mind.

What To Expect
Hobbiton Movie Set
Hobbiton Movie Set 'The Shire' is home of Frodo, Bilbo and many other wonderful Hobbit's. This is the main destination of this tour. Admission is excluded - as we are unable to source tickets for cruise ship passengers. We will be at Hobbiton for approximately 3.25 hours where you will experience a magical 2.5 hour guided tour of The Shire, Hobbit homes and The Green Dragon Inn.
McLaren Falls Park
This picturesque park really is a delightful stop during your Tauranga and Hobbiton Journey. This wonderful lake captures the true beauty of Tauranga with native trees, birds, ducks, swans and the occasional sheep. Home to Trout and even glow worms for evening kayak trips this park is something special. Incorporating McLaren Falls this a wonderful stop where you can really experience New Zealand's diverse architecture and potentially get your feet wet in our beautiful clean waters.

5.00Alan was waiting outside the cruise terminal with a placard with our name and easy to find. He provided great commentary on our journey and managed our tickets for us at Guest services that we had pre-purchased. We then took a Hobbiton bus to the movie set. Our guide was Lana at Hobbiton and walked us through the more than 40 Hobbit homes. We were able to enter one of them that was fully-furnished for photos. It was amazing! We ended up at the Green Dragon Inn for an included brew. We were able to purchase a hot pie for $8, which was great. Afterwards, Alan took us to McLaren Falls which capped off the day. He was a great guide and very enjoyable.

5.00We chose this tour to take us to Hobbiton on a one day stopover of our cruise. They handled all of the logistics and made the entire thing a breeze. We even made a stop at a gorgeous waterfall on the way back and made it back with plenty of time to spare.

5.00This tour is the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Our Driver/guide, Alan, was very knowledgably with this area and provided very informative information to us. We greatly enjoyed visiting Hobbiton and wandering through the rolling hills and the Hobbits houses. The waterfall was beautiful even through there was not a lot of water flow. Definitely recommends to those who is the Lord of the Rings fan.

5.00Alan was our tour guide & he did a fantastic job. He explained a lot about the culture, the flora, and the fauna on the ride to & from Hobbiton. He has a great sense of humor! We made three stops (one on the way & two on the way back) for some amazing views & short walks or time just to take in the country. We had plenty of time to make our Hobbiton Set tour, time for a bit of shopping after, and time once we arrived back at port to do more walking or shopping if we wanted. No worries about making it back on time. Although the tickets to the set weren’t included, it was not a problem to purchase them separately. But…buy them first to ensure you can get in!!! Thanks, Alan, for a great day!
