We are the only Tauranga based tour company with a Hobbiton trained tour guide. When you join us on tour you will also have free Wi-Fi and USB charging points in the vehicle. We are also provide refreshments and snacks during our tour.

You and your travelling companions can experience the best of Tauranga and the renowned 'Hobbiton' with assurance of knowing we have you in mind.

What To Expect

Hobbiton Movie Set

Hobbiton Movie Set 'The Shire' is home of Frodo, Bilbo and many other wonderful Hobbit's. This is the main destination of this tour. Admission is excluded - as we are unable to source tickets for cruise ship passengers. We will be at Hobbiton for approximately 3.25 hours where you will experience a magical 2.5 hour guided tour of The Shire, Hobbit homes and The Green Dragon Inn.

McLaren Falls Park

This picturesque park really is a delightful stop during your Tauranga and Hobbiton Journey. This wonderful lake captures the true beauty of Tauranga with native trees, birds, ducks, swans and the occasional sheep. Home to Trout and even glow worms for evening kayak trips this park is something special. Incorporating McLaren Falls this a wonderful stop where you can really experience New Zealand's diverse architecture and potentially get your feet wet in our beautiful clean waters.

We didn’t get to do the tour since the cruise ship couldn’t dock due to high winds. Despite it being less than 24 hrs notice, we received a refund of more than half our initial cost. We hadn’t even asked for compensation. I very much appreciate this gesture by this company who lost revenue through no fault of their own. I would rebook with them again and we hope to come back to NZ to do so.
Don’t book if you are coming from a cruise ship- they will not refund for missed port

If you are visiting via cruise ship I would not recommend. Our port was cancelled the morning of the booking due to bad weather. We contacted the operator at 7:30am to advise and did not receive a full refund.

Oh my gosh, we had the best time on this tour! All of us are Lord of the Rings fans, but you didn’t need to be to enjoy this tour! The set was beautiful, our tour guide at Hobbiton was super knowledgeable our guide that picked us up from the ship was great he has such a sense of humor and got us back to the ship in good time. So glad we took this tour!

a must do experience for lord of the rings/ hobbit fans. driver waiting at cruise port, very easy to find with people waiting to collect you from ship and back in plenty of time for boarding. definatly recommend

From the timely pickup at our accommodation to McLaren's Falls, short hike to another picturesque falls, tour of Hobbiton, and scenic viewpoint on the way back, everything went seamlessly. Our driver and guide, Stephen, who also works part time at Hobbiton, was entertaining and a treasure trove of information and history of the filming and sets of The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. Whether you are a fan or not, this is a must do tour! As a bonus, we enjoyed the delicious brownies made by Stephen’s wife!

This experience did not disappoint! It was amazing to see and the visit inside a hobbit hole was so much fun!! Capping off with a beer at the green dragon was icing on the cake!
