This was such a unique experience with Tham as my guide. She took me into the countryside around Hoi An to visit several family businesses with long histories. We started at the fish market before sunrise, then visited a fish sauce maker, a husband and wife who craft grass sleeping mats by hand, and a local farmer still producing rice liquor the traditional way. What made it especially meaningful was realizing that many of these craftspeople may be among the last generation practicing these traditions in the old way. Watching them work and hearing their stories made it feel like stepping into a piece of living history. I felt very fortunate to meet them and experience it before these traditions begin to disappear. Since I was the only guest that day, Tham and I rode her scooter through the villages and rice fields, which made it even more memorable. A really special tour.

Excellent walk with Tham, we discovered the real side of the surrounding villages, fish market, manufacture of fish sauce, noodles and another more than local market. It was a more than successful immersion with our 8 and 5 year old daughters. Thanks again

Wow! What a tour! As a first generation Vietnamese, it's very important for me to be immersed in the culture as much as I can when I visit. This tour became one of the highlights of my time in Hoi An! Billy was great to coordinate with and accommodated my needs. Tham was an incredible guide. I truly felt like these places were off the beaten path and super special and local. I honestly was geeking out the entire time on how things were made and the fish market in the morning was so fun to watch the sunrise! The local food market for food was also soooo delicious. Tham was so sweet and even practiced Vietnamese with me and made me feel so comfortable and welcome but also provided me all the information in English! She was so knowledgeable and gave me some fun insights since she's a local. Honestly I can rave enough about this tour! Thank you Billy and Tham!

We had an amazing morning with Emily, who was a wonderful, knowledgeable, and very pleasant guide. The tour was a great opportunity to meet the community around Hoi An, and learn about their personal stories and practices. It was clear that Emily is very passionate about communicating and put a lot of effort into us getting to know and try things in the countryside. It was a pleasure to talk with Emily on the way, where we leant a lot. We can absolutely recommend this tour to anybody ready to get up early to feed their curiosity around daily life in the countryside.

We absolutely loved this tour and are still thinking about it days later. Our guide, Emily, was fantastic — her English is perfect, she’s incredibly knowledgeable (we learnt so much!), warm, and clearly has strong connections with the local communities she introduces you to. This is a must-do if you want a real glimpse into everyday life around Hoi An: fishermen, early mornings, and people making a living through simple but incredibly hardworking, laborious jobs. Don’t hesitate to book - after the first 10 minutes of waking up so early, you’re already fully immersed in the hustle and bustle, and it’s 100% worth it.

I don't usually book tours, but this one felt different from the start: and it truly was. Communication was excellent throughout, and we were taken to authentic local spots you'd never find on your own. We watched fish come straight off the boats. wandered through a bustling market in the height of Tết preparations, learned how traditional fish sauce is made, and enjoyed incredible coffee at a beautiful café set on a crab farm. We sampled rice wine, made rice noodles by hand, and even tried our hand at weaving mats. I expected to observe; but what made this experience exceptional was how hands-on it was. It felt real, personal, and genuinely connected to local life. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

What an awesome experience! Going out to a fishing village outside of Hoi An. Seeing the fishing boats, visiting the market, with a fantastic guide, Tham. Tham had so much knowledge she shared with our little group. Then a visit to a place where they make fish sauce the traditional way. We then went to a market where Tham bought what was to be our breakfast, sticky rice with other ingredients wrapped up in banana leaf and some local style bahn mi. I was pleasantly surprised by the salt coffee, no nearly as salty as I expected drunk in a beautiful location and our breakfast eaten. We finished off our early morning visiting one of the islands, participating in noodle making, tasting rice wine with fruit and finally watching mat weaving. I can highly recommend this trip, you leave the town and get out and see another side of life. Both Billy and Tham are fantastic communicators, happy to share the local culture with visitors. Thank you Tham and Billy for a wonderful time. If you can treat yourself and go!

Billy and his tour company are so determined to show you the most authentic experience possible in Hoi An. Their goal is to give you an insight into the traditional ways of the locals and support their industry which isn't supported by tourism and is suffering. This is the best thing I did in Hoi An hands down and if you're reading this you have to go. Tham was our tour guide and she is an absolute gem, super knowledgeable, really funny and so kind to all the people we meet along the way. Thanks you Billy and Tham
