Village Museum
Hollókő is the only village in Hungary that is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. The unique village kept its original appearence from the 17th-18th century and still functioning as a living village not only as a museum. The other interesting sight here is the stunning Castle that remained from the 13th Century standing on the edge of a cliff.
Eger Castle
Eger town and its castle is famous of its victourious battle in 1552 when 2000 castle defenders including women and children could stop the whole Ottoman army of 80.000 people to invade Hungary and Europe. The castle was built in the 13th century housing spectecular exhibitons. Eger is also famous about its full bodied red wine, the Bull's Blood. Travellers can buy a bottle at nice local wine boutiques.

The excursion is great combination of the UNESCO site Holloko and we had 2 hours in Eger . We spent 1.5 hours at the castle and some time walking in the old town before returning to Budapest. We really enjoyed our day. Our guide Richard was excellent and his driving was also excellent.

Well preserved village but too bad that cars can travel within it. I don't know if it deserves to be classified as UNESCO.

Disappointing. The sites are great to visit, but the tour didn’t deliver on what we paid for. It clearly said 1h at the village, 2h at the castle. Our guide kept rushing us, we had 30min at the village, and he wanted us to do the castle visit in 30min only. We had to argue and rush everything to get it done in 1h10, while there were clearly more things to see. This constant stress and pressure made the overall experience very unpleasant. The car used was not the one showed on the picture, the pick up time was not what was shown on Trip Advisor, we took wrong directions during the trip… All this would have been fine, not a big deal, but added to the fact we didn’t have the time to do the visits we paid for, this was an extremely disappointing and stressful tour.

Absolutely loved this tour! Peter, our tour guide explained the history of the castle and Holloko very well. We had a lovely authentic lunch at a family-owned restaurant that made you feel you were eating a meal that people 300 years ago were eating. Eger castle was a great walk thru in time. A must do tour!

We had a wonderful day traveling in the countryside with our amazing driver and guide, Peter! I cannot say enough great things about him and the experience. The sites we visited were very interesting and made better by the knowledge of Peter. Conversation on the drive was great to gain amazing local perspective. Truly a treat! Thanks again! We’ll be back!

Not good. Car broke down after only 20 minutes. Driver was good, but lost a day's worth of vacation.

The tour was excellent! Richard was a great guide and picked us up right from our hotel. Hollókő and Eger were great, the castle and town were beautiful, and we were able to find some nice things in the shops. We definitely recommend the tour and plan to take the tour again in the summer when the village is more active. Great experience overall.
