Western-style buildings sprang up as the city grew prosperously, and the early 20th century saw Hong Kong develop into a metropolis. Extensive reclamations extending the waterfront and development projects were carried out during different periods and although the outlook of Hong Kong is ever changing, many historical buildings and structures still survive as standing testimony to the history of Hong Kong Island’s Central district.

Unexplained Cancellation of HK Heritage Walk Tour

1.00We booked the ‘Hong Kong Heritage Walk’ 3 days before it was scheduled and turned up at the HK GPO (2 Connaught Place) 15 minutes early and waited for 80 minutes - no guide turned up (or other participants) and we received no messages. Now we understand unforeseen events happen but we used the Viator - chat with tour provider facility - and were ignored 3 times! We left the meeting place over 1 hour after the agreed time (just in case there’d been a difficultly getting there) but no open came. Later in the day I contacted Viator directly asking for an explanation and a refund; the operator replied and firstly tried to ‘cut me off’ because I couldn’t type my response within 5 minutes; after I re contacted Viator, I was told they had no information from the tour operator but would process a refund; I asked that they also let me have an explanation for what went wrong; 36 hours have now passed and I have received no refund or explanation! I would strongly urge anyone thinking about this tour to think very carefully. Maybe there is a good explanation but why aren’t I being told (or refunded)
