This isn't just "old jewelry." The Holy Crown of Hungary has a history more dramatic than a Netflix series—it’s been stolen, buried, lost, and returned by the U.S. government. You will stand in the massive, 27-meter-high Dome Hall, watched over by stoic guards with drawn sabers, to see the crown and its tilted cross up close. It’s the symbolic heart of the nation.
You’ll ascend the Grand Stairway, a space so opulent it makes most European palaces look like a DIY renovation. Imagine walking past massive granite columns—of which only 12 exist in the entire world—under ceilings painted by Károly Lotz. Every inch of the walls is covered in gold leaf and intricate frescoes that tell the story of a thousand-year-old kingdom.

Hungarian Parliament Building
Booking a tour of the Hungarian Parliament isn't just a building walk-through; it’s a deep dive into the "Golden Age" of Budapest. As one of the largest and most expensive legislative buildings in the world (housing roughly 40kg of 22-carat gold), the experience is designed to be as grand as the history it holds. Easiest way to get tickets but you overpay for the privilege. Buy tickets directly to save a lot of money. The guide literally just hands out tickets and says that you are on your own now.

The parliament is magnificent; however, we were asked to come at 2 PM, and no one arrived until 2:20 PM. Two girls arrived, not very nice, who did not speak French. They took our tickets and left. In discussion, no one had the same schedule.

Text/email in the days prior to the visit were helpful. Had to wait longer than told at the redemption place but tour was worth it.

The Parliament Tour is a must-try experience in Budapest. It is worth doing. The interior decorative design and history are very attractive to the visitors. However, there is no real "tour guide" to show us any stories or guide us during the tour, only the audio guide. The price of the tour was extremely high if you could not get the tickets online from the Parliament website, and you had to buy them around 1-3 months in advance. Then you have to buy the "official scalped tickets" from another website, and they cost almost 2/3 the price of the original tickets. It is a very poor system of operations, and it may ruin the image of Budapest itself.

Viator SUCKS. The tickets are impossible to access, even tho they say they are up. The venue didn't accept what Viator sent. Their directions were miserable and the tour guides checking everyone in were late. However, the Hungarian Parliament building is gorgeous! And the tour is well run. They do a good just of letting you see everything and explaining it. Definitely worth doing, just don't book through Viator.

Since it's difficult to obtain tickets in advance to see the Hungarian Parliament from the official website, this was an easy and efficient alternative. The Viator staff (Akos and Liah) arrived on time at the scheduled meeting point and stayed with us until the audio tour began. It was an excellent tour of this magnificent building. I would have liked more time and a chance to see other parliamentary areas that might be open to the public.

I did not appreciate that the people who had our tickets were 15 minutes late. They don’t do the tour. Guess they are “middle men”. Audio tour us a recording via ear piece device in the language of your choice. The Parliament Bldg is amazing!

Leah, the guide was obnoxious and rude as soon as she arrived. She screamed at a woman, “You gave me a different name, you made a mistake!” Rosie tried to help another traveler with an issue and Leah got involved and escalated the situation leaving everyone else in confusion. Leah then collected all Documents and went off to the ticket counter without giving instructions to us. When people did not hear her calling out names to return documents and hand out tickets, she made comments and demonstrated her frustration. She should not be a guide. I have never had a guides with such poor customer skills. Rosie tried to helps but she also was frustrated with Leah’s comments and rudeness.
