How the Northern Lights Safari Works

Your journey begins at the Rampen Adventure Hub, where you’ll receive a short introduction to the evening’s program and what to expect. From there, we set off by car, guided to the locations that offer the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. If the weather and conditions allow, we will step out into nature, breathe in the crisp Arctic night, and enjoy something warm to drink as we wait for the skies to come alive.

Head out into nature, to our best spots for seeing the Northern Lights in Bodø. Experience the exciting and mysterious chase for the Aurora, see the spectacular landscape with new eyes, and find the peace and tranquility that only a trip away from the city in the arctic winter night can offer. Step into nature, and search for the Northern Lights with Rampen! Itinary 1830 - Pickup Wood Hotel 1900 - Meet up at adventure hub 1905 - Northern lights introductions - Weather forecast  - Camera settings - Dressing 1930 - Departure Adventure hub The tour is run based on the northern lights forecast. Usually we have 2-4 stops on a tour, and most of our tours we are finished at midnight.

We only had two nights in Bodø but wanted to make sure we had the best chance of seeing the northern lights. I booked with 24 hours notice and thankfully this company and Svein our guide accepted. Svein messaged us saying there was a good chance of seeing the lights early and if we were free we could be picked up sooner- so of course we jumped at the chance! We visited a couple of spots, in the woods and on the beaches away from light pollution. We saw lights almost immediately but decided to keep going in hopes of them getting brighter. We stopped for hot chocolate and tea by a stream in the wilderness which was magical by itself, and suddenly we were gifted with the most amazing light show! It was truly the best we could have ever hoped for. Svein was so lovely, funny and sweet and it was like we’re out with a friend. Fully recommend this tour, it ticked off a bucket list dream experience for me but also made it the best it could have been Many thanks again to Svein and we hope to come back!

It was really one of those moments where you know nothing will be the same after. In a good way, of course:) Firstly, the communication with the guide, Esten, was easy and quick. He was knowledgeable in the Norway's history and aurora lights. He made good calls with predicting when and where we should go to have the best experience. Its a memory I will always look back on and feel grateful for everything. And secondly, I think everyone should experience the lights. It was such a surreal moment. You are looking at the dance of the light and you still cant wrap your head around it. Such an amazing and magical experience. Still can't believe I saw it :) I highly recommend the tour and Esten as a guide! Everything was well planned and organized! And after a successful hunt, the hot chocolate he prepared was cherry on top :) Thank you so, so much!
