Ten different pools of varying temperatures for a blissful, spa-like experience. Clean facilities, friendly staff, picturesque views, and secluded enough to feel like a hidden gem

AMAZING place! Having tried Blue Lagoon and Sky Lagoon too, Hvammsvík Hot Springs may actually be my favorite place to go to soak in the warm waters in Iceland. It's a very intimate space, doesn't feel crowded or touristy at all and you feel truly immersed in nature. Would for sure go again!

After roughly @ 50 min drive from Reykjavík, we arrived at our scheduled time (recommended to buy tickets in advance), and after a quick check in were provided with a towel and some water shoes we were directed to the changing rooms. You are provided with a bracelet which locks your locker and is used to charge any drinks you order from the poolside bar. We showered sans bathing suits as instructed before donning our bathing suits and entering the first pool. Each pool is a different temperature, and the brave can take a ‘cold plunge’ in the ocean water. There is also a steam sauna. A luxurious and peaceful experience, surrounded by beautiful scenery.

We wanted a more local hot springs experience so drove about an hour outside of Reykjavik to this place, which has a lot of local clientele. The drive itself is beautiful and the place was nice and fun. We arrived around 11 and had lunch first at their cafe ... good food and nice setting. Then we spent a couple of hours soaking in their various small hot pools and enjoying a glass of champagne. It was very relaxing, quite beautiful scenery and after a couple of hours in very warm water your body feels PDG. Don't worry about the weather! Once you get in the hot pools it doesn't matter how cold or overcast or even rainy it is ... we had a "typical" Icelandic day ... overcast, misty, cool ... and could easily move from pool to pool without feeling the least bit cold. We shared the place with many tourists but also locals. Wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

This hot spring is about 45 minutes north of Reykjavik. We paid $240 for the two of us for the comfort package which includes a towel and water shoes. This is our favorite hot spring in all of Iceland, and have been a handful of times. Forest Lagoon is a close runner up. This one has 8 pools of varying temperatures and the cold plunge is in the fjord. There is a sauna as well, and a swim up bar that even has hot cocoa and N/A beer. The locker room is small, but has never felt crowded on any of our visits there. There is a private changing room if you want, and showers that are open as well as private showers. The shoes are nice as going between the various pools can be rough on the feet with the wooden planks and rocks. They have a bistro on site that is very good as well.

Beautiful hot springs about 55 minutes from Reykjavik. Not too busy on a week day at 11:00 am booking. A number of people showed up without reservations and were admitted, it just slows entry down for others if you don’t book in advance. Variety of pools. Can plunge into ocean if desired…we didn’t but many others did. Comfort package included a choice of a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, water feet, indoor showers, lockers and change room with the option of a private shower and change room (just a few).

Absolutely beautiful peaceful and upmarket thermal outdoor pools right next to a bay and mountains. The pools are beautifully warm with one hot pot, and one pool right on the beach after which you can plunge in the sea. There's also a steam room built right above the hot rushing waters, and a bistro to eat afterwards, the fish soup is the best I've ever had.

Beautiful experience. While it may feel a bit pricey—especially compared to some of the free natural hot springs you can find in Iceland—you do get a lot in return: eight pools, well-maintained facilities with showers and lockers, a steam bath, and even a cozy bistro. It's also much less crowded and commercial than places like the Blue Lagoon, and still more affordable. If you appreciate natural settings and quieter, more authentic experiences, this is definitely worth a visit. Swimming in the sea was a highlight for me—absolutely invigorating!

Absolutely amazing experience. Arrived with the snow falling so couldn't see much of the surroundings ... When the sky cleared the scenery was spectacular. The springs were fabulous. The weather changes several times whilst there and so was able to capture some amazing pictures. Hot chocolate in the lounge pool very decadent. Felt very authentic and not touristy. Conditioner for hair is lush too. I even saw a dolphin ina bay on the way back... Perfect trip.

Definitely the best view of any of the hot springs...just breathtaking! The pools were amazing and such a variety that there is a perfect temperature for everyone. Well worth the drive out of the city to experience this particular location.
