  Arctic and beyond is a small upstairs office above a restaurant next to a larger tourism office. We had a small group for our experience and a young energetic man Leevi as our guide and experienced photographer. The lake where we went ice fishing was a short ride. We received a demonstration on how to make a small hole in the ice for fishing and had everything we needed. If you don’t have warm enough gear you can borrow some before you depart from the office free of charge. We each made a hole in the ice or made a second to try another spot but sadly we were all unsuccessful catching a perch, pike or trout. The hole is pretty small so you couldn’t get another big anyways. There were six patrons in our group and I am the only one who got a bite but I never got the fish to the surface of the ice. After icing fishing for a little over an hour Leevi made a fire on the ice and we roasted pork or veggie sausages with our hot blue berry juice finished our snack packed up and headed back. Haven’t got to see our photos yet they should be uploaded tomorrow. The overall experience was great but I don’t think there is a high success rate of actually catching a fish!!! Tons of fun thanks Leevi!

  At first I was skeptical - can you even catch fish on a frozen lake? The skepticism was completely unfounded. After a short briefing and receiving the "equipment" (Arctic clothing, stool, ice fishing rod, ladle and thermos bottle with hot, red berry juice), we went on a short trip out onto the lake. The first fishing spot, not far from the bank, was quickly found. Under the guidance of our expedition leader Taru - we drilled holes in the ice with an ice drill (1 meter ice thickness!!). "Pinkies" (pink-colored maggots) were used as bait and they were taken into water that was about 1 m deep under the ice. In less than a minute I hooked my first fish (6 fish in total was my haul), the other members of the group also caught fish, which were gutted and prepared on the spot by Taru (on a grill). There were also sausages that we cooked on the grill. It was a lovely three hours that we spent on the lake. Nobody froze - everything worked fine. However, the price for this event (130 EUR per person) should be reconsidered.

  It’s an experience to live when you go to Lapland. We were there with our 2 children. Everyone dug their own hole in the ice. The landscapes are magnificent since we were on this immense frozen lake. There were only 4 of us for this activity. So we really felt like we were sharing a moment with each other. Emma, our guide, was super nice, we were able to chat and ask questions. She took photos of us and our family which were sent to us 2 days later. No fish but Emma and our son started a fire to grill the sausages. I therefore recommend the service provider, who, as Emma explained to us, is in Rovaniemi, but moved to Lévi more recently.

  We had a wonderful time. Taru was very patient with my kids. Overall it was a great experience. We didn’t catch any fish but we all had fun learning how to ice fish. It was a beautiful, peaceful day.

  We chose the “ice fishing” activity to experience an authentic moment and we were not disappointed! Our guide Taru was able to explain the activity correctly to us so that we could be independent. We even had the right to a hot drink and a snack to warm up by the fire. I recommend this activity to do with family, as a couple or with friends :)

  We went fishing with Meri and everyting was super nice! We have not been lucky enough and we didn't catch any fish, but still the experience was awesome. I recommend this experience and this operator!

  We had a great time with Antti. Unfortunately, we returned empty-handed because we did not manage to catch a fish but Antti's explanations were very interesting. Plus he took great photos of us. Thanks again !
