The first stop is the dock in the village of Hoonah. This is where we keep our commercial crabbing boat and our morning catch of crab. Pick out your fresh crab as we answer any questions you might have about Alaska commercial fishing and crabbing. We fish for pink salmon to use as bait for our commercial crabbing. All the gear is on board so we can give you a demonstration on how it works right at the dock.
The next stop is the deck over the water at Hoonah Beach House. This is just a quick stop to put our crab on ice for later, and maybe use the restroom if necessary. We will be returning to this location later for the crab feast!

Nice excursion, good transportation, great food. It was nice to see Hoonah through the eyes of a hard working local couple.

Great tour oh Hoonah and have your trip end with crab and Thai spice. The guide/owner has a great understanding of how things work in this town of 850 people. They are very innovative people who make things work through bartering and hard work. They use a lot of things in and around Hoonah both recycling and using natural resources. At the end of the tour you will enjoy fresh crab with a nice touch of homemade Thai spice if you want to add it to your crab. I highly recommend the extra spice to your meal. It was the best meal I had on the cruise. I had to go on land to get it. Don’t forget dessert. It was made with berries from Hoonah.

Our host (and guide) was friendly, warm and informative sharing his love of his life in Hoonah. You get a genuine feel for what it takes to survive and thrive in an environment most of us can only handle on vacation for a limited time. The time comes when we are ready to go home - for our host this is home.

This was a unique experience and such good fun. Guide is just terrific and the crab meal at the end of the tour is delicious, served with a Thai sauce. Loved it, and highly recommend.

This was a fantastic experience not only enjoying the freshly caught and prepared crab, thai fried rice, and thai iced tea made from a formula from Thailand, but also in the glimpse of the journey and lifestyle of the owners. They've done a wonderful job creating finding their niche and making the experience a unique one for their guests. I'm very sure this is the only place during our holiday where we got to eat FRESH crab. :) Highly recommended! Thank you!

Todd and his wife, Srisa, provided an awesome experience while in Hoonah. Todd shared his local knowledge about fishing, cultures , etc and then treated us to a fresh caught Dungeness crab lunch that featured a Thai themed rice dish and tea as well as a homemade blueberry dessert using local blueberries (courtesy of Srisa) . It was such a wonderful afternoon. I would highly recommend this excursion, it is so worthwhile.

Great private excursion while docked at Icy Strait. Todd picked us up at an easy to find lot just off the ship, toured us around town, and taught us about life in Hoonah. Todd & Srisa have a lovely comfortable deck on the water with beautiful views and flowers. Our group of 6 (2 kids, 2 adults and 2 grandparents) enjoyed taking photos and hanging out on the beach after the tour while the crab feast was prepared fresh. The crab was beautifully served with a side of rice & Srisa's delicious special sauce. This was easily my favorite and most memorable meal of the entire trip! Todd and Srisa are truly consummate hosts!
