Leao Beach
Praia do Leão, located in Fernando de Noronha, is one of the island’s most beautiful and untouched beaches. Known for its golden sand and intensely blue-green sea, it’s also a key nesting site for sea turtles, especially between January and June. The beach gets its name from a nearby rock formation that resembles a lion lying down facing the ocean. With controlled access, the visit is done via trails and viewpoints that offer breathtaking panoramic views. Due to strong currents, swimming is not always recommended, but the beach is perfect for contemplation, photography, and close contact with nature. The wild and peaceful environment of Praia do Leão provides a unique experience—ideal for those seeking tranquility and the raw beauty of nature.
Praia do Sueste, located in the southeastern part of Fernando de Noronha, is known for its calm and crystal-clear waters, making it one of the best spots on the island for marine life observation. Ideal for snorkeling, visitors can see sea turtles, colorful fish, stingrays, and even harmless sharks. Entry to the beach is controlled by the Marine National Park and includes basic facilities such as restrooms, lockers, equipment rental, and a snack bar. Some areas are restricted to ensure environmental preservation, and life jackets are mandatory in certain zones. Additionally, Sueste hosts the only mangrove in an oceanic island of the South Atlantic, making it an important conservation site. It is a must-visit for those seeking direct contact with nature and tranquility in a paradisiacal setting.
