A "Day in the Life" with your shepherd host family - Day 1
Accommodations

From your starting point at Qafe Perdolec, you will meet your guide(s) at the cafe meeting point at 11 am and then hike to the summer encampment of your host family, near Lepushe. Once there, for the next two days you will be invited to take part in their daily activities, which include milking the sheep, following the family members as they take their livestock out to graze in the high pastures, experiencing home life inside their Stan and learning to prepare milk, cheese and other local dishes the way that Malesore shepherds have learnt to do for generations!

After breakfast, you are welcome to take part in the daily activities of your host family once again, or your guides will accompany you to visit other shepherd families in the area, giving you the chance to learn more about their lives and their traditions and exploring the stunning surroundings. In the evening (at whatever time you wish) your guide(s) will accompany you back to Qafe Perdolec before dark, marking the end of the tour.

5.00Easily the best part of my trip in Albania. This stay is less of a luxurious "bnb" experience, and more for those who are interested in authentic cultural immersion, hiking, exploring, conversation and can do without the typical comforts. You will drink fresh water from mountain springs, eat the best homemade cheese and bread you've ever had, see sprawling meadows and rugged mountainsides that will leave you breathless/speechless, and meet people who will greet you with open arms. This incredible and incredibly kind family will essentially be your guides through this magical region, privately and sustainably/without the oversight exploitative hiking groups. Not for those wanting an air-conditioned tour bus and fine dining. A completely off-the-beaten-track unique experience. I came here alone, as a female traveler, and never felt safer. I will remember this for the rest of my life, and will be regretful if I don't return one day.
