Isandlwana Battlefield
Visit the world famous Anglo/Zulu war battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift where the British suffered one of the most devastating defeats of the colonial era at the hands of the mighty Zulu Impi of King Cetshwayo. That night the British turned the tables at Rorke’s Drift and held out against a ferocious attack by the numerically superior Zulu warriors in an all night Battle, and where 11 Victoria crosses were awarded.

Drive to Rorke's Drift, and explore this famous battle site. Visit the museum and, memorials and hear about one of the most famous battles in British and South African Military history, and where 11 Victoria crosses were awarded.

We travel through Boer War territory. Your guide will give you a factual talk about this war, its origins and consequences and effects on world history. Drive through the siege town of Ladysmith where the British army were besieged for three months by Boer forces. View from the road the Battle site of Spioenkop one of the most bloody and important battles of the war. Visit the Capture site of the war reporter Winston Churchill. Visit the Mandela Capture site.

5.00What a great Zulu Wars battlefield tour. Don is a friendly and easy person to spend time with. He cares about the people who are with him and tries at all times to ensure they are getting the most out of the experience and the excellent accommodation. His knowledge is exceptional and he knows how to get it across. Being in the locations and seeing these combined with Don’s explanation of what occurred, where and when was perfect. I shall never forget the Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift experience it was worth the 10 hour flight from the UK for this alone! I would recommend this tour without any reservations, even if you are not a die hard historian. Many thanks Don. We had a fantastic time, worth every penny !

5.00So lucky to find Don who tailored a tour for us that gave us everything we asked for and more. He collected us from the airport at Durban gave us a Durban tour that was filled with stories, took us to St Lucia, hippo spotting, organised accommodation that suited us perfectly and then took us to the battlefields. Of course, there his expertise was superb. We stayed in a unique and beautiful lodge, and from there he took us to Jo’burg airport. Dealing with Don was friendly and efficient, he listens carefully to your needs and goes to no end of trouble to give you a tour you will never forget. We can’t recommend him highly enough.
