We were so thrilled to have spent the day in Ise Jingu with Henry-san. From Geku all the way through Naiku, Henry’s knowledge of the history and cultural significance was genuinely impressive, and his observations and commentary elevated the experience far beyond any guidebook or self-guided visit. We really appreciated Henry’s deep understanding of the sites, both from a traditional and modern perspective. He made everything fun and easygoing. Henry also kindly brought us to a great lunch spot nearby, which was no small thing during Golden Week when everything was packed. He handled it all with ease. Thank you Henry-san, this was a highlight of our entire trip. Highly recommend!

Since all the other tours were full during the Golden Week, I applied for a private guide here. We received an email from the reservation site in English, and we communicated directly with Mr. Kurata, our guide, to proceed. It was my first time using a private tour, and my guide, Kurata-san, was really "kami-ready"! We were two hours late because of the GW crowd, but they were very kind to us, giving us flexibility in our schedules. I was shown around the inner shrine from the outer shrine of Ise Shrine, and I was able to spend a very fulfilling time there because of my great knowledge and the accurate answers to our questions. He is such a great person with a good sense of humor and wit that I really enjoy talking to him! We highly recommend this site to international travelers as it is available in both Japanese and English. I signed up for this tour and I got it right. Thank you for the best travel memories.

This was a lifelong bucket list visit to Ise Jingu and we were delighted to meet Henry Kurata, a local Japanese tour guide who was one of the best guides we have met in our years of travelling the globe. I was very specific with the agency that I had an experienced, local Japanese guide who had an excellent understanding of the Grand Shrine. We were very fortunate to meet Henry, a retired businessman who has lived abroad. His explanation of the traditions, culture and architecture was excellent! Often, I see tourists with college age students and this was not the guide we wanted for this visit...We were beyond pleased with our tour and I know he will continue to impress other guests with his excellent Japanese hospitality! Thank you, Henry for a most treasured memory of our visit.

Our guide, Henry, Kurata, was excellent and very knowledgeable and very patient. He even walked at our pace…. He was very flexible and totally tailored the tour to our wishes. He helped us find specifically requested shops and even located the items in the stores. The abalone and mochi he recommended were out of this world.

I was able to interact with the guide before the trip and he gave me a lot of advice when I did. We had the best of our ability to hear the wishes of our sons and their daughters who live separately because it was a family trip. We really enjoyed and had a wonderful time on the tour. I am truly grateful.
