This private walking tour will transport you back to the dark and chilling world of the Whitechapel Murders in East London. Follow in the footsteps of the notorious and never identified Jack the Ripper.
During the autumn of 1888, Jack the Ripper murdered, at least, five women with several other horrendous killings before and afterwards that may or may not have been carried out at the hands of the man voted The Worst Briton of All Time.
Explore the old streets of Whitechapel on this private 2.5 hour day-time tour (so you can actually see everything properly) and learn what life was like for the people who lived here.
We've had everyone from school-children to corporate bankers on this tour as well those who just want to see a different side of London. With the seal of approval of homicide detectives from New York, London, Melbourne and many other places and even enjoyed by some of the team behind the BBC show 'Ripper Street'.

We have earmarked this tour as especially safe during the Coronavirus outbreak due to generally quiet places that we visit where social distancing is generally not a problem. All of our tours are private so it is just you/your family and your guide. To make it easier and safer for all concerned we would suggest starting this tour a little later than the usual time, perhaps around 10.30-11am which allows us all to miss rush-hour. We are happy to still come to your hotel to meet you but for the moment we would suggest meeting us at the tour starting point. This allows you to arrive by a taxi or uber rather than public transport. Please feel free to wear masks throughout or at times during the tour. Your guide will also have a mask with them.

We will explore the streets of Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Aldgate and follow in the footsteps of Jack The Ripper as we visit the locations of his murders and those strongly linked with him.
Open for the first time in almost a decade, we will visit Durward Street and the murder location of Mary Ann Nichols

4.00I have had a keen interest in Jack the Ripper since I saw the 1988 TV series with Michael Caine. In August 2023 I went to London and took the Jack the Ripper with Ripper-Vision tour. It was very good. In December 2025 I went back to London and took the Private Day Time Walking Tour with, I think, Kevin. Here again, it was very good. I think there were some discrepancies between the two tours and where the murders actually happened. I hope I'm not being too morbid saying this. For the Ripper-Vision tour, her room was inside the office building, where a bank of elevators are located. For my private tour, her room was inside the building atrium. You can see that the Ten Bells Pub, where Mary allegedly met the man who would murder her, is a stones throw away from her room. I have a greater understanding of how life was very hard for women and children living in this era.

5.00Did a private Jack the Ripper tour with Stephen. He’s an historian and author who gives you so much more than the Ripper story. His local history knowledge adds another dimension to the tour and made for a fantastic two hours. I know he does a load more walking tours in London and we’re signing up for more.

Knowledgeable, personable, and full of information, Stephen went above and beyond to make sure I saw and learned everything about the Ripper, Whitechapel, and the history of East London. 5.00The stories, films and documentaries you see all come together on this fascinating, complete Tour, featuring the places, the facts and thoughts, the feel and experiences of the period. The people involved and the records and what they reveal. The walk was extensive but easy to do, with a nice tea break en route. Stephen has researched the subject and added humour and the ability to paint pictures of the era, and most importantly, put that across in a way that we enjoyed thoroughly Thank you

His tours are well researched, exciting, fun and at the same time casual and demanding. Stephan gets along wonderfully with all people (even unfriendly teenagers :-) knows the little and big secrets that are worth telling on a tour of London. He not only knows the facts, he also knows exactly where to get VERY delicious food and where the nearest toilet is;-) Even if you speak little English, the excursions are absolutely recommended.
