I do not recommend Atlantic Star Nautical Center by Hilton Hotel. From the start, the staff showed little concern for our safety. We were told to swim quite a long distance through strong waves just to reach the jetski, which felt both uncomfortable and unsafe. When we asked if they could bring the jetski closer to shore, they refused, claiming it wasn’t possible. What made this even more frustrating was seeing later at another beach near the pier by the Morabeza Hotel, how another jetski operator handled things completely differently. There, they safely picked customers up directly from the beach, helping them onto the jetski with care and professionalism proving that what we asked for was absolutely possible. At Atlantic Star Nautical Center, we felt like we had to beg for basic safety assistance, which is unacceptable. Unless you’re a fish who enjoys long swims in rough waves, I can’t recommend this experience. The only positive aspect was that one staff member stayed on the water with us to ensure we didn’t drift too far. Additionally, it would have been much more enjoyable if there had been some free time to ride the jetski on our own rather than being limited to a fully guided tour.

Great communication and transfers from my hotel, from Atlantic Star. Jets ski was amazing for our son and thr beach to watch from was clean with golden sand.

Great experience. Staff @ Atlantic were top notch, and we really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to Jet Ski in Cape Verde.

Water was very choppy through most of the trip which made it somewhat difficult. I also damaged my phone during the exit of the jetski. Other than that it was ok.

After signing the disclaimer, being given a rather tatty and poorly fitting life jacket, and a very quick briefing (start, stop, throttle, get on from the back), I was told it was rough and I’d need to swim to the jet ski. Ok, I thought - a few metres maybe. The guides launched 2 jet skis, rode off through the waves and left me on the beach. They stayed past the surf zone and waved for me to swim out. Well, I made it - just. After total wipeouts in the waves, like being in a washing machine. Probably the biggest waves I’d seen in my life. Finally got dragged onto a jet ski. Thank goodness, I made it, I thought. But no, now I had to jump across to the other jet ski, which was mine for the trip. Then I was left to follow someone I’d never spoken to, through the waves and the wind. No communication at all and no idea of where we were going and how long. There were moments of fun riding it through the waves, but alongside shock and relief that I’d not drowned, and fear of how they would expect me to get back to the beach. In the end, it was stop the jet ski outside the surf zone, jump in the water and swim back. Much easier of course, and luckily a guide swam alongside. Maybe I needed to be a stronger swimmer. I can swim, but not directly into and through some of the biggest waves I’ve ever seen. In any case, it should been clearly briefed on the day, and in the trip description. I’m sure it’s brilliant when it’s calmer, but when we take this sort of trip, we expect the organisers to put our safety first, which I don’t think happened here. Interesting they all disappeared straight after, leaving just the driver to go back to the hotel (after inflating a flat tyre with air from a dive cylinder!).
