Jewel Cave
Fully-guided tours showcase the breathtaking magnitude of Jewel Cave. You will see towering crystal creations that have taken thousands of years to form, and intricate decorations stretching and suspended across the ceiling, like vines and dancing cobwebs. From stalagmites to flowstone, shawls, helictites and even ‘cave coral’; this cave tour reveals the most amazing variety of cave formations or ‘speleothems’. Once you see the ‘natural entrance’ to this cave, the means of entry for the intrepid cave explorers of the 1950’s, you will appreciate the incredible task they faced in opening up this spectacular cave to the public. You'll also hear stories of the now-extinct ‘Tasmanian Tigers’ that fell into the cave and met a dark and lonely fate. At the end of your tour, your awe-inspiring crystal journey is perfectly complemented with the option of the self-guided ‘Karri Walk’ through the towering forest giants, and viewing the ‘natural entrance’ from above the cave. The Jewel Cave Centre is complete with interpretive area, retail and café facilities.

Very impressive and worth going! The tour guide was great. I can’t believe I have been down south so many times and never made it to any of the caves - so glad this was my first!

What a great experience. You went a long way down into the cave - amazing geology. The guide was great and engaged with the whole group - he was particularly good with the children and kept them engaged throughout

One of the most magical caves we've experienced. A well guided tour full of information about yesteryear, and the now-extinct Tasmanian Tigers that fell into the cave and perished! Highly recommend.
