Sarapiqui River
Jungle Safari Float on the Sarapiqui River Come see the abundance of nature and wildlife that Costa Rica has to offer! This Costa Rica Safari Float is a smooth, two-hour paddle down the quiet, lower section of the Sarapiqui River and great for nature lovers of all ages —especially children and their parents! Your bilingual nature guide will paddle and steer your boat as you float down the river and point out all of the exotic wildlife such as birds, frogs, insects, and monkeys in the Costa Rica rainforest! We will start down the river at our restaurant, the Red Eye Frog located in El Roble de Sarapiqui and finish up in Jacare. Your eagle-eyed guide will show off Costa Rica's amazing wildlife as he points out a wide array of plant and animal species. You’ll float next to the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor (San Juan La Selva Biological Corridor) where there is a good possibility of seeing sloths, howler monkeys, lizards, and even black river otters. Plus, this area is famous for its incredible amount of tropical birds such as ospreys, boat-billed herons, parrots, kingfishers and the great green macaw which is on the endangered species list. For those who want to be even closer to nature, you will have the chance to get out of the raft and into the river and refresh yourself as we go down the river. The Jungle Safari Float is great for nature lovers of all ages – children love this tour! It’s also perfect for couples or large groups who want to spend some quality time and relax together in the middle of a tropical paradise! And to finish your day we will return to the Red Eye Frog Restaurant to have a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch called a “Casado” along with some amazing Costa Rican gourmet coffee.

Excellent trip. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. it was not an easy thing to plan and pull off. My friend is in a wheelchair. But Desafio went above and beyond and made it happen. One of our best experiences in Costa Rica! Mil gracias a la gente de Desafio.

Josef and David were our guides, they had a good sense of humour and seemed to be interesting people. We had a great time, with a nice mixture of larger waves and rocks to navigate between the calmer waters. Thanks for the experience! The lunch was well prepared and a good-sized portion.

What a fun trip!!! If you want to see amazing scenery and wildlife, have an amazing guide who literally knew every bird call, great detail about habitats, floral and fauna - it was like our own discovery channel.- book this trip!!! Some baby rapid in beginning which made it a little exciting for kids- but it was 100% non threating so no worries if want to avoid white water as it's very calm and easy. It was so beautiful!!! Best day!! Even got a great lunch after, can swim a little in river, had a little stop over and fed some fish. Just super awesome!!

Excellent guide Gabriel. Knowledgeable about the birds and other critters seen. Skillful navigating the raft and made it as smooth as you could imagine. So much so that my wife wants to try class III and IV rapids now. To top it off, a home cooked staple for lunch to end the day. Highly recommended.

Fantastic tour with Rodlan as our guide. We used the Jungle Safari - Transfer option to San Jose. It was very well organised: bus pick up from hotel to River stop. The rafting was great fun. The first half has some Grade 1-2- (3, just 2) rapids also. We also stopped and observed local wildlife and birdlife. There was a nice stop with fresh fruit, then the later part is a relaxing way down the river. Lunch, then back ont he bus to San Jose. Highly recommend

I did the sarapiqui jungle safari float. It was a perfect mix of floating and chilling, seeing wildlife and some little easy rapids. It was part of their transfer package and really easy and straightforward. Plus it included a simple traditional lunch that was delicious. Rolo was a great guide, he's from the area and speaks with passion about the river and wildlife. One of the highlights of my time in Costa Rica.

OMG… I was not expecting this to be so good. Rolo was absolutely 10/10 brilliant. He was very knowledgeable, created a really fun & exciting atmosphere and made us feel so safe. We had so much fun, saw so many birds, monkeys, iguanas, just utterly beautiful. Thank you Rolo and Randy, we just wish it could have lasted all day.

We had such a great time on the Sarapiqui River. We thought we were in store for an easy "float" down the river, but instead, we got a mild rafting adventure. From the driver that transported us from La Fortuna, to our river guide, Andrés and our safety guide/photographer, everyone was was wonderful! Andrés pointed out the local wildlife and botany, as well as shared stories about the river and its history. We saw so many cool things along the river and were treated to a wonderful thunderstorm the last 10 minutes of our journey. We were already wet so it didn't matter and just added to the magic of the experience. I will definitely recommend this experience to my family, friends and clients planning a trip to Costa Rica.
