What To Expect
Jvari Monastery
The monastery built in 6th century. The name "Jvari" is a Georgian word and means "cross". The church has a shape of the cross and this is how it was called Jvari. There is an amazing view on Mtkvari & Aragvi rivers and Mtskheta from the monastery.
The very first church in Georgia - the religious center of the country. The building was built in 11th century and was destroyed few times, though it still stands strong.

5.00We had the most amazing views! We incorporated visiting Chronicles of Georgia before visiting Jvari Monastery & Mtskheta and it was worthwhile. It is also a cheap place to buy souvenirs, I forgot his name but he has this buy 1 get 1 cheap magnetic 🧲 ref displays to buy from. We met a smiley old local lady that was happy we bought fresh pomegranate juice. You can experience wine ice cream here to at the top of a hill.
