Kakum National Park
We will depart our hotel early in the morning and drive to Cape Coast, about 2 hours and 30 minutes drive approximately. We will visit Kakum National park, this park is rich in butterflies and birds, including African grey parrots and hornbills and has a canopy walkway. The Canopy Walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, provides treetop views of the forest. We will take a walk to the canopy bridges whiles we observe some of the medicinal tree, see some birds and butterflies and do the canopy walk. After the tour, we will drive to Elmina.
Elmina Castle
We will have lunch and have a cool and relaxation after a long drive. After lunch, we will visit St George’s Castle also known as Elmina Castle, is a Unesco heritage site, it was built as a trading post by the Portuguese in 1482, and captured by the Dutch in 1637. It was expanded when slaves replaced gold as the major object of commerce, with storerooms converted into dungeons. The informative tour takes you to the grim dungeons, punishment cells, Door of No Return and the turret room where the British imprisoned the Ashanti king, Prempeh I, for four years.

I treated myself to a solo trip to Ghana to relax and reconnect with the ancestors. I had no specific plans as far as visiting any tourist attractions, but as luck would have it, I met Musah and took the opportunity to visit the Kakum National Park again. He was a pleasure to work with. Very profession and knowledgeable about the history of Ghana and the Cape Coast region. He also took me to a few hidden gems in the country. I would highly recommend his services if you're in the Cape Coast region and looking for a great tour guide.
