Katong Laksa and Nonya Bak Zhang are two quintessential Paranakan dishes. We had stayed in the Katong neighborhood once before and loved it. Made for walking and it seems like a hundred restaurants. We wanted to try the Peranakan cuisine a fusion of Chinese and Malay. Natalee said she would feed us until we fell over. She gave us much info on the food, the culture, and Singapore. We stopped just short of falling over, but try everything some you like some probably not so much but you will have a good handle on this cuisine when you are done. Does envolve a lot of walking, let's you eat more.
