Travel through the notorious Rose Valley where the best rose oil in the world is being produced. In Kazanlak discover the unique Rose Museum and the local museum of history keeping more than 50 000 original exponents. The museum protects, examines and popularizes the entire rich historical heritage of the Kazanlak region, including all Thracian tombs and treasures from the Valley of the Thracian kings. In the same valley visit the first Bulgarian UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site – the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak (from 4 century B. C.) and the impressive Golyama Kosmatka temple/tomb (from 5 century B. C.). Finally visit the outstanding Christian Orthodox temple named Shipka Memorial Church built in memory of the soldiers who died during the Russian Turkish War of Liberation from 1877-1878.

Period: Year round; the bloom of the roses varies slightly every year but generally is between 1-st of May and 15-th of June. Lavender is in bloom in June, while sunflowers start in mid-June until the end of July.
The original Kazanlak tomb is closed for tourists in order to preserve the very precious frescoes inside. Travelers visit the replica nearby.

The perfect guided tour

5.00This day trip covers 6,000 years of history, bringing us from the neolithic era (Museum of History Iskra) to the Thracian kings, to the cultivation of roses and distillation of rose oil who is still now one of Bulgaria's economic staples. The trip provides a visual summary of a country embedded in a rich and long history but looking to the future. Kamen, our guide, was perfect. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, unafraid of questions that may not have answers, and bringing us to think with him. He was also funny, making the trip quite enjoyable. This is a must-see trip for those who love history, but also for those who enjoy beauty and elegance in different forms, from an extraordinary crown made of gold, to a delicate perfume. My friends and I are ready to do it again.

5.00We had a great experience with Plovdivtrips on our tour to Kazanlak, the Rose Valley, and the Valley of the Thracian Kings. Our guide, Kristian, was passionate about Bulgarian history and full of interesting facts and stories that made the day engaging from start to finish. He also brought us to a lovely, cozy local restaurant where we had delicious Bulgarian specialties! Overall, it was a smooth, well-organized. Very happy we found this tour and would highly recommend it!

4.00I contacted the Plovdiv Trips agency to see if there were any tours planned during my days in Plovdiv. Kamen responded quickly by proposing the tour "Kazanlak, Rose Valley and the Valley of the Thracian Kings" shared with other travelers. The day of the tour he picked me up at the hotel on time. The hike was very interesting, although I expected to see more roses being the flowering period. Kamen speaks excellent English, easily understood and is very knowledgeable about the places of the visit. Lunch in a typical restaurant is also very welcome.

5.00All the tour was interesting, but the Thracian tombs are really something special: both the architecture and the golden artifacts are incredibile. Our guide, Kamen, is super knowledgeable and very patient. I would recommend this tour to all tourists in Bulgaria.

5.00I came across Kamen and Plovdiv Tours on the Internet - I wanted to Enterprise a day tour from Plovdiv with several destinations according to my own customization. No problem at all for Kamen. As a profound connoisseur of the region (as his country at large) he had ideal tips ready for a varied and highly interesting trip. Several Thracian Tombs, Kazanlak, Shipka Church and Monument as well as the unique Buzludzha Monument high up in the mountains - a fantastic day! Kamen does it really well, the long day becomes an experience, time flies almost too fast. Very sympathetic encounter with a guide as knowledgeable as nice people!
