Rather than following a set route, this cruise travels to the best whale and wildlife viewing areas that day based on reports from other vessels. The experienced captains will explore the area’s wildlife hot spots to maximize your chances of viewing whales and other wildlife. You'll experience up-close encounters with wildlife as the boat cruises by massive bird rookeries and sea lion colonies, stopping along the route to view passing whales and otters. The views were spectacular. The vessel was in fantastic condition, drove smoothly, and was clean throughout. The captain handled the vessel expertly, gave insights throughout the cruise, and took time to allow passengers to take pictures while maintaining the arrival time. The deck staff were helpful and incredibly friendly. I highly recommend this cruise.

This was one of the highlights of our Alaska cruise and land trip. We got to see a few hump bank whales, or at least their tails and can see them breathing. We also got to see porpoises, other wonderful wildlife and stopped by an area that I’ve seen on my screensaver. The captain has very keen eyes, the sound system was good, and the captain spoke eloquently so we could really understand the narration. We didn’t get seasick. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

Great trip! Worth it for the views of the stunning, moody Kenai coastline alone with the snowcapped mountains, glaciers and seastacks. Saw tonnes of wildlife - horned puffins, bald eagles, stellar sealions, porpoise, sea otters, a beaver, loads of seals. Boat was warm and comfortable, plenty of spacing for viewing on the deck, and nice to have snacks available to purchase on board.

This wildlife cruise out of Resurrection Bay and through the Kenai Fjords was amazing! We were excited to see so much wildlife in September.… sea lions, bald eagle, otters, cranes, and even pods of orcas! The captain and crew were exceptional! And the beautiful views we’re fascinating and something to behold… the sparkling waters from the Gulf, mountains, glaciers, WWII remnants, and the blue sky! Yes, our day was gorgeous and sunny! This is a trip everyone must enjoy!

Our six hour tour that include glaciers was canceled and substitute at this four hour tour that stayed in resurrection Bay. We did see orcas coming out of water and otters eating octopus so it was still fun.

We took the cruise at the end of the season, but did see more wildlife than expected. We even saw a group of Orca whales! The crew was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would love to take this cruise in the summer!

My husband and I had the pleasure of going out for a half day cruise on the Spirit of Matushka on October 9, 2025. Captain Chris was very knowledgeable. He shared some fascinating information about the nature and wildlife we encountered. Corinne D. Ink Goes Wild Alaska

It was very beautiful, well kept boat, nice complementary drinks and staff was super friendly. Unfortunately did not see a lot of large wildlife.

What wildlife you get to see is wholly dependent on the time of year, the weather, etc. so as long as you're expectations are in line will be a pleasant trip
