As the original electric bicycle tour in Southeast Alaska, we're excited for you to join us on an easy, enjoyable ride on the "road to nowhere". This road dead ends at the edge of the dense Tongass National Forest, an extensive wilderness where you will then take an enjoyable, guided, educational hike along a well maintained trail beside an active salmon spawning stream. The hiking features a beautiful waterfall along the path as well as stunning beach views with potential to spot intertidal creatures, black bears and marine mammals along the coast. The dense rainforest is the highlight of the loop trail through the Tongass and is always changing throughout the season. After enjoying your guided hike you'll return to your e-bikes to cycle back to our marina for smoked salmon snacks along with vegan options and beverages. All our tours provide round trip transportation from both the Downtown Cruise docks & the New Dock at Ward Cove. Excellent rain gear is provided should you need it.

Tongass National Forest
After a dozen years of running kayak tours in Ketchikan, we're consistently surprised at the number of visitors who never set foot in the Rain Forest. Our E-Bike tour originated from a desire to get more visitors into this amazing rain forest. With almost 200 inches of rain annually, there really is no place as lush and unique as Southeast Alaska. The forest floor is bountiful with all kinds of Flora and Fauna and depending on the time of season its not unusual to see deer or or salmon swimming up stream. Port times for most folks are very limited, so we wanted to maximize your time by combining multiple activities on this tour. Plus we wanted to offer more than just a hiking tour anyway. So we made the trip to the trailhead half the adventure in itself. The ocean views along the hike and from our scenic marina are a big bonus! It's not unheard of to see Porpoises, Seals and Sea Lions or sometimes Humpbacks or Orcas from the beach.
Ketchikan Kayak Company
Electric assist bicycles are bicycles. You pedal them and shift gears like any other bike. They are very quiet in operation and are not classified as a motorized vehicle. These bikes have multiple levels of peddle assist allowing you to choose how much exercise you want to get. Peddling is necessary. We can cover more distance using e-bikes than conventional bicycles, you don't have to worry about keeping up, and they are the perfect way to get just the amount of exercise you're after. They are very accommodating with a step-through frame so you don't have to throw a leg over the bike to get on and off. We recharge our e-bikes with hydro power so they are a clean source of fun. Our tour usually max's out at 10 people, so no chance of getting lost in the crowd. Get out of town with us on your visit to Ketchikan this summer!

Absolutely worth every penny. This excursion exceeded expectations and the detail from Chandler was second to none. Chandler is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Alaska, the wildlife, and the culture. The communication from meeting point to transfer was perfection. After the tour we were greeted by the team and served wild salmon dip and beverages. Would highly recommend Ketchikan Kayak Company for any and all of the Alaska excursions.

It's a great experience led by experts. Our guides were kind and patient giving e-biking instructions to a bunch of newbies and were very knowledgeable about the area during our forest hike. I'd advise anyone who's ever ridden a bike to give it try. It was a lot of fun!

Chandler was my guide. He was so friendly. It was only myself and him. We did the hike in the woods and we saw at least 4 different bears. I will do this again. If I could attach a picture or a video of my bears I would. I loved it

My husband pulled his back the day prior to us leaving on our cruise and was unable to join. There were only three of us that day on the ebike/hike tour. Reivon and Dana were so kind, informative and truly let you ride at your pace with no pressure to keep up. They ride behind you. Dana mainly taught you the ebike tutorial and Reivon took over on the hike. The Ebikes are pretty simple but you definitely had to get use to the slight thrust forward when you began to pedal after resting going down a hill. The hike was a short one down to the ocean where you'll walk along the rocky shore. We were lucky enough to see a sea lion just off the coast, but saw no other wild life. We tasted different berries along the way and stopped at falls and waterways. Don't be afraid of the ebikes. You will get the hang of it. The hike is in and out. The red cedars are huge and beautiful.

We had a great day on the EBike/Rain Forest tour. The EBikes were in great working order, our Guide, Chandler, was exceptional. He was a wealth of information regarding the Rain Forest, as well. We appreciate the rain pants provided, as well. They helped during the light, but, pesty showers . Two thumbs up for Chandler and the entire Ketchikan Kayak crew

Chandler was very thoughtful and thorough. We hit a cooler rainy day so rain gear planning was a plus. They had some extra rain gear for the two others without. This is a nice out and back. Bikes were in great condition. Realize this is a bike and hike. Maybe a mile hike where you get to explore a lovely forest canopy. A fantastic water flow with the falls leading out to the bay. Our timing was perfect the first part of September so we were so fortunate to experience the salmon coming home to lay their eggs. Wonderful bonus to our ride. Great overall tour and tour guide

It was a successful mix of biking and a walk through the rainforest and beach. Reiven was a very nice guide and knew a lot about the area! Communication, Pick up - everything worked great.

Dana and Raven guided or tour first on e bikes then on a hike through a rain forest in ketchikan Alaska. They did a wonderful job of teaching us first timers how to operate the bikes and we're extremely knowledgeable of the flora and fauna on the hike. 10/10 would do it again

Your customers are not for you to joke about at their expense. Rude experience. Would not recommend as the ebikes are mostly taken on the straight of the highway along with traffic. I expected some offroading but looks like this tour is usually for ages 50+.

Chandler & Koda were our tour guides. Sophie was our van driver. We were picked up exactly as detailed on the reservation detail email I got after booking. Easy drive in a big van. Our first time on e-bikes and the explanation was great, after everyone was comfortable we walked up the drive and got on the road. Bikes looked either new or very well maintained, they rode very well, very comfortable seats. We got helmets too, they also offered wind breakers to wear if needed. Safely is definitely #1 with these guys they gave instructions at the start. Quick reminders thru out and always kept the guests between the two guides but distanced enough on the ride everyone could go at their own pace they felt safe going. The hike was beautiful. Learned a bunch about the rainforest and even had the privilege of seeing three black bears at a safe distance. Snacks at the end were unexpected and really nice touch. Then Sophie took us right back to town and gave us recommendations along the way. Definitely book with this company they were really good.
