On this trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and towards Horombo Hut before returning to Mandara for lunch and then hiking back. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn't a "must do", and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent. All trekking inside of the Tanzania National Park require the services of a certified Kilimanjaro guide, and the Marangu route is the only route where short treks are allowed. For an overnight hike you will stay at the park huts.

Day 1: 2-DAY KILIMANJARO TREK / Hike to Mandara Hut for overnight (LD) After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour), register and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys. 5,500 ft / 1,700 m to 9,000 ft / 2,740 m 7 km 4-5 hours Montane Forest Meals included: Lunch, Dinner Budget Accommodations: Mandara Hut

Day 2: Hike towards Horombo then down to park gate and return to Moshi (BL) You leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands towards the Horombo encampment. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and grounsels. After lunch at Mandara, hike back to the park gate and drive back to Moshi (about 1 hour). 9,000 ft / 2,700 m to 12,100 ft / 3,700 m 11 km 3-4 hours up / 2+ hours down Heathland

I can highly recommend this tour over the 1 day tour. It was so great to stay in the Mandara Hut overnight. We could hike to the Maundi Crater, enjoy the silence there and had a great view to Kenia. In the evening I walked into the rainforest, it was a fantastic experience. In the morning we walked from 2700 to 3200 m altitude (above the forest) and enjoyed the sunrise with a great view to Mawenzi and Kibo.

This place was beautiful and definitely a must see. BujoTours did an excellent job ti ensure we had all the proper equipment, food, and shelter. The porters were attentive and assisted with the equipment. I would absolutely use BujoTours in the future!

We decided to take this trip last minute and we’re in a remote area of Africa at the time. We called Bujo and told him we wanted to hike Mount Kilimanjaro and go the the Serengeti. From there, he planned every little detail and all we had to do was follow his direction throughout the trip - which was amazing!! Our guide on mt Kilimanjaro was Nass and he was absolutely world class. We had one of the best times of our life! Nass had a big support crew with him that were from heaven. This was a trip of a lifetime!
