A guide and a mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning in order to meet you and hold a quick briefing, after which you will travel by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park's eastern entrance: Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Mandara Hut (2,700 m). The trekking route includes passage through the rainforest (where tropical showers are highly probable), so we recommend you take not only spare clothes, but also your raincoats. When you reach the camp, our mountain support crew will take care of the necessities, pitch the tents, and prepare lunch. Throughout the entire Marangu route, you will be spending your nights in special huts. They offer a great alternative to those who do not want to sleep in tents. This will be your first day at this altitude, so it is strongly recommended you heed the following instructions from this point on: • Abstain from consuming alcohol and caffeine • Drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily (little by little, frequently) • Take a Diamox pill to help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. Most mountain climbers take Diamox in the morning, before they start their ascent, in order to reduce discomfort associated with altitude sickness. We recommend you consult your doctor prior to the trip in case of potential allergies. At night you may experience discomfort associated with acclimatization to the high altitude: because of a reduction in your waking breathing pattern, your body gets less oxygen than during the day. Taking altitude into account, you may therefore start feeling sick and have a headache. Pay attention to your own body and tell your guide if you start feeling any symptoms of altitude sickness. Change in Elevation: Marangu Gate (1,860 m) — Mandara Hut (2,700 m) Hiking distance: 11 km Hiking time: 5-7 hours

Early in the morning after breakfast, the group will depart Mandara Hut to start a moderate trek towards the second high altitude camp: Horombo Hut (3,720 m). When you reach the camp on this day, you will be treated to views of two volcanos at once: Kibo and Mawenzi. Several hours after lunch you will have to complete an acclimatization hike in the direction of Kibo Hut with a 200-meter gain in altitude, and then hike back down to Horombo Hut where dinner will be prepared for you. Note: The acclimatization hike is an easy trek with a slight gain in altitude done in order to speed up the acclimatization process. You should take the acclimatization hikes very seriously. They help increase your chances of successfully summiting Kilimanjaro and save you from the consequences of altitude sickness. Trekking from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut: Change in Elevation: Mandara Hut (2,700 m) — Horombo Hut (3,720 m) Hiking distance: 10 km Hiking time: 5-6 hours Acclimatization hike: Change in Elevation: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) — Destination point en route to Kibo Hut (3,920 m) Hiking distance: 2.5 km Hiking time: 1–2 hours

When you reach the camp you will be served lunch, after which we recommend you sleep as much as you can, avoid any strenuous activity, and drink lots of water. Night departure from Kibo Hut (4,700 m) and the start of your trekking to Kilimanjaro's summit: Uhuru peak (5,895 m). The trekking will be moderate from a physical standpoint, but the altitude presents a much more serious problem. For the entire length of the trekking each pair of climbers will be accompanied by their own guide, who will be monitoring your stamina and mental resolve. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Kibo Camp and after a two-hour rest continue your descent to Horombo Hut (3,720 m). Note: Don't forget that 90% of all accidents occur during the descent, including all broken arms and legs. Please pay attention to your feet, as there is a high risk of damaging your toenails. What started out as a solo trip, ended with family bonds. There is no words to describe the experience we had. But ill give it a go... The team of Altezza had such an amazing vibe. Everyone was helpful and kind. Making the entire trip a life changing experience! From the cooks who specially brought me chilli with every meal to the porters who carried our bags and made sure we were safe and surrounded with love and support. I will not only mention Felix but all of the porters. We danced, laughed and adventured together through the days filled with the best food 😋 by the cooks. Joshua who was the head guide ensure that each of us were individually seen too in the most challenging time of the summit and every moment before that too. He taught me about the fauna and flora of the mountain and guided me through a very challenging time. He was assisted by Imran, Mongi, Munier, Adam. Not too mention the lady porters. I am in awe of their strength !!! Wow ... At meal times we were treated with the original Nutella and Cadbury chocolate milk which made the cold evenings bliss... one of our group was so smitten with the Nutella, she even summited with the new tub and we used it to celebrate after. I speak on behalf of my group knowing full well that we all agree. THIS WAS THE BEST GROUP TRIP EVER!!!! we all stood together as one living up to the daily mantra of one team one dream!!! Hakuna Matata ❤️ I have to personally commend Imran for ensuring my safe summit or shall I rather say my summit at all... hehehehe And then a safe return to ground by skiing along with me and Phim on the way down. My only suggestion would be lower steps at the huts for the short people (the short people is me) and normal toilets... because hahahahha you know ! 👅 Thank you Altezza for the amazing experience. Your organisation and overall care taken is just freaking awesome!!!! I can go on for days but im limited in this review. Im so happy I chose you 💗

Celebrated our 10-year anniversary and not sure how to top it after this adventure! Incredible experience from booking to checking in and throughout the climb from gate to summit and back. Walked away with the most rewarding experience and made 25 new friends in the process. The wake up each morning with fresh tea/coffee, with the guides always ensuring we were healthy and safe and all the support from the entire team was next level. This is a group that is there for you from every single step. Book now with them. Thank you everyone at Altezza for making this possible and memorable!!

From start to finish, my experience with Altezza travel was absolutely incredible. I went from the 2nd October last year, and I realised having looked back at those fond memories that I hadn't done a trip advisor review as well as emailing my thanks. Here is my experience as a 19 year old solo female traveller! My arrival at the hotel went very smoothly, the truck to pick me up was on time and with a friendly driver, who assisted with my luggage. On arrival at the hotel, which was very clean and excellent service all round, I was introduced to Happy, who helped with my packing and checked everything was suitable and ready for the climb and she was a credit to the team, very reassuring and nothing was too much trouble. The next day we started on Marangu 6 day route, and I joined a team of 4 other climbers, our main guides Stanley and Valency, and the fantastic team of porters. I could go into so much more detail about the climb but here is my overall feedback of the trip: The porters were exceptional, assisting us with luggage, bringing all the food and supplies and the chefs were very talented, working off a mountain and yet giving us a range of nutritious meals, we never went hungry and everything was delicious. All of the team helped to boost morale, and were the backbone of our climb being successful. Now, Stanley and Valency are literal superstars, and immensely good at their jobs. Stanley was so knowledgable and had vast experience in the industry, and was the reason I made it to the summit, as well as assisting me down the part that I struggled with on descent from the summit, and for that I cannot thank him enough. Valency was so friendly, excellent mountain paparazzi and kept us all motivated whilst assisting everyone subtly and leading to their success. Both of them ensured we were warm enough, and gave us the best chance of success - all of our team made it to the summit! Truly the best experience ever, and I am so glad I chose to travel with Altezza, and the way they treat all their staff is excellent. I wish Stanley and Valency all the best, and thank you again.

We shared an unforgettable adventure with this ascent of Kilimanjaro in 5 days via the marungu route. On the one hand for the beauty of the landscapes and the challenge of this mountain, but above all thanks to an incredible Altezza team that pushed us to reach our goal! A big THANK YOU to our 2 guides Elia and Godson who advised, motivated and supported us during these 5 days: you are TOP! Thanks to our cook Riziwani who made us great meals to give us strength throughout the trip, to Enae who accompanied us to the top to help us because NO STOP TO THE TOP! And thank you also to all the other team members: Paulo, Edward, Sadiki, Victor, Reginald, Allen and Frank who manages the logistics to make this journey simply perfect and unforgettable!! You are the BEST TEAM !!!! ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM!

I had a truly amazing experience with Altezza Travel. Everything was perfectly organized, and I always felt I could rely on the team throughout the entire hike. When my checked luggage was delayed, they generously lent me some hiking gear free of charge and even brought my belongings up to the mountain later. Their support and professionalism made the whole trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

It's been over a week since I returned from Tanzania, and my thoughts and memories of conquering the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, keep coming back. I deliberately chose to go outside the main tourist season—in May, at the end of the rainy period—hoping for good weather and fewer crowds on the mountain. I also placed my trust in Altezza Travel, and I must say the entire experience exceeded all my expectations. From the very first communication with the agency and throughout the planning process, the support was excellent. The same goes for the on-site service and the climb itself. The professionalism of our guides, porters, and support crew was outstanding. I truly have nothing to criticize. The journey to the summit, for me and my seven teammates, will undoubtedly remain one of the greatest experiences of our lives. More than physically demanding, the climb is mentally challenging—but even there, the strength of our guiding team and the bond within our group made all the difference. Simply put: one dream, one team. Thank you, Altezza, for everything.

What an amazing trip. The support, guidance and encouragement throughout were awesome. The food was fantastic, and the team well supported my vegetarian needs. The summit day is tiring but the views are exhilarating. I would have no hesitation in recommending this trip for anyone wishing to climb Kilimanjaro. For me it was the experience of a lifetime, and the tough times were more than balanced by the enthusiasm and push by the support team. I climbed up with seven strangers and the Altezza team, but I returned with great friendship and admiration for those who made my dream possible and even enjoyable. “One team, one dream, to the top, non-stop…Amazing”. Thank you Altezza

Our tour guides - Justin and Joseph - were friendly, supportive and professional from the beginning and throughout our 4.5 days up and 1.5 days down Mt Kilimanjaro. They shared their knowledge of the mountain, making our health, safety and enjoyment of the trip top priority - it was a pleasure to get to know them and have their support on our 6 day trek. The experience well exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you Justin and Joseph!

We arranged our whole trip via Altezza, this included a private group climb to Kilimanjaro Summit via Marangu Route, 2 day stay at an alternative hotel and a 2 day Safari trip with a stay in a Safari Lodge. Prior to booking, Altezza provided detailed information about the various options for our trip, adapting this to meet our individual needs. The trip coordinator, Denis, was extremely helpful and had good knowledge and advice to guide us throughout our booking to ensure we made the most of our trip. Communication throughout was excellent, this included instructions prior to arriving, including a detailed itinerary, details of what to expect and packing lists for all planned activities. The communication continued throughout our trip with regular text messages confirming arrangements and check in’s to see how our trip was progressing. The trip was well organised and couldn’t have gone any smoother, from airport transfers to hotel transfers and trips. All staff from trip coordinators, guides, porters, chefs and drivers were incredible. Kilimanjaro – The guides (Stanford’s Team) were incredible. They had great knowledge of the mountain and local area which they shared with us. They ensured we remained motivated with encouragement and regular songs to keep spirits high. Our safety and wellbeing was a priority for them, regular medical checks (2x per day), medical kit available at all times if needed and amendments to walks based off our needs. With their support the whole group managed to summit Kilimanjaro. Altezza went the extra mile and provided us with personalised camping mugs, hot water bottles and fizz at the top of Uhuru Peak! The route we chose meant our accommodation were Hut’s, these are basic however comfortable and a great alternative to camping, especially having done it in rainy season. Food throughout the trip was plentiful, various food options provided and catered for Vegan/ Vegetarian and Gluten Free. What they can cook up there is nothing short of amazing! The whole group can say that Altezza were absolutely incredible and the trip would not have been the same without them. I couldn’t recommend Altezza enough, our experience has been amazing.

WOW! From the moment I booked to the moment the driver dropped me off at the airport everything was simply amazing. The office staff, the drivers, staff who met me at the hotel were simply incredible. Now the guides and porters….DOUBLE INCREDIBLE!!!! You want for nothing whatsoever when you’re trekking. You’re greeted with hot tea and warm water to wash each morning. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner are fantastic. What the cooks can do up there is nothing short of a miracle. Every night you get a hot water bottle to help keep you warm. While I was a solo trekker I was matched up with three of the best people I’ve ever met and along with the guides and porters I felt like I was hiking with friends. If you’re not doing Kilimanjaro with Altezza….you’re doing it wrong! When we walked out past the gate we had one last lunch. Then a wonderful gathering with the crew. We watched three other groups finish that didn’t receive anything like our guides and porters gave us. Singing, dancing, hugs, handshakes. Truly a memory I will cherish forever.
