Explore Zanzibar’s fascinating wildlife on a 3 hours outing that combines dolphin-spotting, snorkeling and Visit the Oldest Mosque in East Africa. You’ll join a guide for a motorboat tour from a coastal fishing village, then don a snorkel to check out the marine wildlife beneath the waves. The shallow coastal waters around Kizimkazi are a favorite hangout for dolphins that come here for the reliable food supply, to nurse their calves, rest and socialize. Several bottle-nose dolphins stay at Kizimkazi all year-round. There are also rather shyer humpback dolphins that put in an appearance here, although their schedule is a little more erratic.

What To Expect

Kizimkazi

Your adventure starts from the fishermen village of Kizimkazi and you will see a foresight of fishermen at the shore while you are on the motorboat going to view and snorkel and spot some dolphins. Several bottle-nose dolphins stay at Kizimkazi all year-round. The dolphin trip starts very early in the morning, because in the afternoon, as the sun rises and the sea water warms, dolphins dive deep down to escape the heat. Although dolphin spotting is a popular activity, sightings can not be guaranteed and actually managing to swim with dolphins is a rare occurrence as it requires time and patience. The dolphin trip may last about two to three hours with the further opportunity to explore on land thereafter. Kizimkazi is also the site of a 12th century mosque, the earliest evidence of Islam in East Africa and is therefore worth a visit for both cultural and historical objectives.

Through Ahmed, we were able to take a full-day private excursion tailored to our wishes and needs. It was a very beautiful experience. First, we did the dolphin tour, then the Salam Caves, then the sandbank, snorkeling, the natural pool, and finally Kwale Island. The tour was very well organized, and we really enjoyed it. Ahmed is kind and takes good care of the guests. I can definitely recommend Safanta Tours.

My wife and I had an amazing experience on the Kizimkazi Dolphin Tour in Zanzibar! The trip was unforgettable – we had the chance to swim with wild dolphins in their natural habitat, which was truly magical. The crew was friendly, professional, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. The water was clear, and we got up close to the dolphins, which was a dream come true. We also enjoyed the beautiful coastline of Zanzibar. Overall, it was a perfect day filled with incredible memories, and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zanzibar!
