What a night! Saw 4 beautiful mantas on our tour. Taco kept us safe in the water and told names and stories for each ray. Was a quick 10 minute boat ride to the site. Plenty of time in the water. Was a nice small group compared to some we saw going out. Highly recommend!!

This was a small group of 11. Taco did an amazing job in the water. Told us the names of the 4 manta rays that were by us and a little piece of information about them. Was an incredible experience.

I was fairly skeptical before we got to the water. Having in mind that mantas are actually wild animals… but I guess Keyo, Taco and Max knew exactly what they were doing (or maybe we just got lucky?). We got to see a small pack of them SO CLOSE! Great experience from booking to completion. Good instructions on a meeting spot. If you have a wet suit- bring yours everything else you’ll get there.

My Kona Adventures provided an excellent experience. The small group was so nice compared to the huge groups on other vessel. Very customer friendly and informative

As long as you are a bit comfortable in the water, it’s a must do visiting the island. We got to see a lot of Manta Rays on are trip. Pretty dang cool.

I had no idea we would have rays come right up to us over and over again and be able to get great videos of them swimming below us. May be the best thing we did on the big island! The crew was great at letting us know what to do and not to do that made it an amazing experience!!

Fun and well organized experience. Crew was great and very knowledgeable. They found 3 manata rays right away which lead to a very memorable experience for us.

I’m leading with this because it significantly impacted the experience: one guest arrived late, already drinking, with a glass beer bottle, and chugged the entire bottle on the boat. Instead of being removed, the crew simply took the empty bottle from him to hold while he swam. No corrections were given, and this set the tone for the rest of the night. This guest repeatedly failed to follow instructions, couldn’t keep his legs up, and blocked the mantas, causing them to turn away instead of swimming close. He also had a camera dangling below him in the water, further obstructing them. We only saw two mantas up close. Several others approached but turned away after being blocked by guest behavior. At no point did the crew intervene. Given how sensitive this encounter is and that manta rays are a federally protected animal, this felt very irresponsible. There was no education provided about manta rays. No explanation of what makes them special, how the lights work, or how guest behavior affects the experience. Considering how dependent the encounter is on proper behavior, this lack of information was disappointing. I chose this tour expecting a smaller boat to mean a better experience. In reality, our group was combined in the water with a much larger group. Ironically, a larger group actually provides better light coverage, which was not explained beforehand. The experience in the water felt chaotic. Guests were reaching for mantas and other fish, losing pool noodles, and panic-swimming off in the dark. The person next to me repeatedly swam away to retrieve their noodle and returned hitting me. The guide did not correct any of these behaviors or tell people to stop, even when it clearly affected the animals and other guests. It was unbelievably cold. I have genuinely never been that cold in my life. We were not offered warmer gear (despite it being available for rent), were not advised to bring towels, and no towels were provided. The cold alone significantly impacted enjoyment. At check-in, we were told to leave all belongings in a bin at the tent and were assured they would be watched the entire time. When we returned, no one was there, and everyone’s items were left unattended and accessible. Overall, I do not recommend this tour. If I were to do a manta ray snorkel again, I would choose a different operator with a larger, more professional crew, clearer communication, stronger group management, and go earlier in the evening in hopes of avoiding a more party-oriented crowd.

If I could, I would give them a 100. Our daughter, who has a disability, had concerns before getting in the water and difficulty getting out of the water. The staff was very helpful by comforting her before we got in and the captain was very resourceful on how to get her out of the water. We would highly recommend this activity because it was an unforgettable experience since we were able to see many Manta Rays.
