• The opposite of a cheesy dress-up—beautiful experience in a beautiful historic home

  My teen son was excited to try a katana experience while visiting Kyoto and I’m so glad we landed here. The historic house is so beautiful and it felt like a real privilege to get to spend a few hours in it, sitting in the receiving rooms, meditating, even washing hands at the traditional water source. Very different from passing through on a tour. The instructors and translators are all lovely; after we left, my son said he “felt honored” to have been a part of the whole thing. Even dressing in the robes felt like part of a ritual instead of a costume dress-up thing. Truly a very special experience and I’m sure it will stand out as a highlight of our time in Kyoto. Thank you to everyone!

  Exciting and fun experience. Daughter loved the outfits and the fact that we got to use real swords. The samurai was very impressive and imparted a real sense of history, and zen. His skills were amazing to watch.

  World class service from start to finish. We were so impressed by our instructor, his knowledge, skill and respect he showed for the art form. I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun cultural experience in Kyoto. Using the katana was an absolute blast. 10/10!

  It was so much fun. Highly recommend solo or with the group. Learned how to use a katana sword and some great meditation. The drum was also pretty fun. I also like the green tea.
