What To Expect

St. Vincent’s La Soufrière rises majestically to over 4,000 feet and last erupted in April 2021. A tour to La Soufrière Volcano takes you along the picturesque windward coast of St. Vincent, through banana and coconut plantations to where the foot trail begins. This trail leads you along steep volcanic ridges, verdant with bamboo and other tropical trees. This is a day’s journey for energetic hikers, who should leave early in the morning, as the ascent to the crater is about 3 ¼ miles, but is well worth it. The expedition can continue down the west side trail and terminate 10 or 12 miles on, in Chateaublair on the leeward (west) side.

Great tour with TopDawg team. Was picked up by driver, there were few other folks in the van, and your guide was part of tour also. The hike itself was fascinating learning about the eruptions, lava flow, the green nature and the crater where the last eruption occurred. It does get windy and bit cool at the top so a light rain jacket recommended .

I had a great day out, climbing this amazing volcano. We were only three people in the group (plus guide), which was very enjoyable. The walk through the forest is very beautiful, and our guide Tall Man knew a lot about the different plants and their uses, and the history of the volcano. We started of early in the morning (7:45), and did not get back to the ferry until 17:00 - without a lunch break. This was for two reasons: Firstly, we started up slowly (stopping to pick up food, fill up petrol, pick up guests, and even at the trail start, guests took time to get ready). Secondly, we took quite a long time to climb up the volcano and return, due to the limited fitness of some people in the group (and it sure is very tiring to climb up in the heat - we all sweated a lot!). If you are limited in time, you need to let the organisers know up front, so that they can manage time. Because we took so long, there was no time for lunch. We got some fruit from the driver, but I would recommend bringing some food with you, in case there is no time for a proper lunch break. This hike is definetely not suitable for people in flip flops or people not used to hiking in a hot climate. Top Dawg say that in the tour information, but of course there is no way for them to check whether people are fit enough to do the hike in a reasonable time. The drive from Kingstown to the starting point took us along the windward coastal road, which is very busy, but interesting. Because we took so long, we had to rush back for me and another guest to catch the last ferry to Bequia, and so we had no time to stop anywhere on the way. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable - just driving a bit too fast for my taste. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone interested in climbing the volcano - it's very good value for money and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

Great Tour. The hikking is a real great nature expirience and the view is top. The owner of the Company Wayne is a great Gentleman with honour. He had no other people for the day. But still he offered me the Tour for me alone without extra Charges after he knew this is my only time window in a short stay in St. Vincent. One more time thanks so much. There exist also other people who dont Care on your travel costs and hotel bookings and flights like Trubb Taxi tours SVG. They canceled my other Tour cold minded of my costs and time to come to St. Vincent so shortly bcs of not enough people. But happily i met on this hilking tour Dino the Driver of that tour. He is very kind and have a great knowledge as well about all places. Thanks to God Hhe was offering me on my request a much better Tour than trubb would ever be able to give for the next day with a lot of more places and insider spots. So my time in St. Vincent was so exiting beautiful exploring thanks to Dino and Wayne. I can recomment everybody to book that Company if you dont want to risk your Tour get canceled bcs of not enough Partizipationars and so loose your time and money for travel. Wayne and Dino are the best choice and both more than 500 % trustable and its a Garanty to have a great time One more time Thank you Dino and Wayne. You are the best :)

An incredible hiking experience. Great views and the best scenery on the ascent to the volcano top. Wayne picked us up from Sandals resort in the morning and took us to the trailhead near Georgetown. John guided us up the mountain and provided us knowledge of the trail, the volcano, and the eruption history. I can’t say enough about well John knew the trail and how easy it was having him as a guide. Do this hike, and ensure you have John as your guide. One thing to keep in mind, this is a 2 hour drive from Sandals resort. We were picked up at 9am and returned at 6pm. So a long day but well worth it.

First of all, Wayne is extremely responsive and helpful. He always quickly responded to the questions I emailed him. We ended up doing 2 tours on 2 different days. The first day we booked as a group tour but ended up being the only family. This was the Volcano hike. We went with Kevin and then also picked up a guide in Georgetown. Both were so kind and helpful in the difficult ascent to the top. Our local guide had so much knowledge about the flora and fauna and the history of eruptions. It was a difficult hike, our 10 year old led the way and was always having to wait for us! We learned a lot and enjoyed the views from the top. Kevin stopped at a grocery store at our request on the way back so that we could pick up items for our hotel room. We booked a private tour the second day because we enjoyed the first day so much. We were thrilled when Kevin arrived to be our tour guide again that day (and I knew that was supposed to have been his day off!). Kevin took us to the Pirates of the Carribean tour and Dark View Falls. Along the way he stopped at different pull outs for us to take picture. He stopped at a fruit stand and bought local fruit for us to try. We spent as long as we liked at Dark View falls, and then Kevin provided us with the yummy rum punch. We had requested to be able to stop for lunch and we went to Beach Side near the falls. We had delicious local food while staring at St. Vincent’s beautiful water. On the way back to our hotel, Kevin helped us secure tickets to that night’s match between St. Vincent and Jamaica! Kevin was very kind, accommodating, knowledgeable and patient. The vehicles were comfortable with air conditioning. We found the prices for the tour to be very reasonable.
