Lake Maggiore
Set sail on this Borromean Gulf cruise and admire the area’s sights and scenery from the water. Pass by Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori, and Isola Bella. Marvel at the Borromeo Palace. Leave from Stresa towards Isola Madre, famous for its gardens with tropical blooms and for its villa that will leave you speechless. After having made a complete tour around the island, head towards the fishing village of Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen's Island), the only island to be permanently inhabited all year round. Spot a set of ancient houses rich in history. Finish off your cruise with a tour of Isola Bella from the water. 1.00We were greeted by an employee at the ticket office of Santa Caterina very indeed quite rude, he did not want to give me info on costs and what ticket to buy, he kept saying: yes give it ok pay! Come on, all right, pay up! He responded badly and rudely bordering on teasing. 2 English tourists arrived and could not even say 2 words in English...very annoyed he replied: where are you going! Where you go! I have lived in LEGGIUNO for 30 years and I have never received such a service in Santa Caterina. Think tourists. And it's only 9.40.

4.00When visiting scenic Lake Maggiore a good day tour is to take the sight seeing island tour of Isola Madre, Isola Superiore & Isola Bella...each island has special attractions & sights - plus good shopping & restaurants. Definitely worth taking a full day to plan for and experience.

5.00We have been touring in November and the weather was superb! We had a perfect Italian lunch on Isola Bella. The sight of Matterhorn peak from the lake was breath-taking.
