What To Expect
Volcano Hekla
After boarding our Super jeeps in Reykjavik, we cross fertile South Iceland farmlands, opening up to grand views of Hekla volcano's snow-covered top (elev. 1491m). Hekla's next eruption is long overdue and expected at any time so you just might catch the show. Since Iceland's human settlement in the ninth century, Hekla's 20-30 eruptions have ranged from pretty little tourist attractions to explosive disasters. There's no wonder Hekla has long been taken for the entrance to Hell for damned souls. Conditions permitting, we may make it up onto the volcano’s eruptive ridge, ca 900m above sea level, where the air is crisp and the views incomparable. Pushing deeper into Iceland's eruptive interior, we take in and touch scenery so unreal it is repeatedly used for other- world Hollywood A-films.
Landmannalaugar
When we arrive in Landmannalaugar we can hike, or dip in Iceland's most famous natural hot pool, or both.

Mindblowing off road adventure of a lifetime

5.00First of all Pally’s car/van/all terrain vehicle was a superb one! And most comfortable. He was a most amazing guide and driver. Driving through the mountains was mesmerising enough and then going off road into the snow was mindblowing. He made the drive so safe and so interesting- we went across lakes and along rivers, over steep mountain edges and even into a river. Totally thrilling and an adventure of a lifetime…
Incredible day out. Mind-blowing scenery and brilliant service.

5.00We hired a superjeep for the day (family of 4 - kids are 13 and 10) because I fancied a day off driving and we figured a big 4x4 could get us to some interesting places. We were absolutely blown away by the experience. Kristjan picked us up on time from our hotel in a hilariously massive custom engineered hulk of a truck. We couldn't stop laughing at first. We spent the next 9 hours awestruck by the volcanoes, mountains, waterfalls and moonscapes of Hekla, Landmannalaugur, and Fjallabaki. Kristjan was friendly, funny, informative, and great with the kids. He was constantly tailoring the trip to our needs and pace. We did a couple of mini hikes (one at, fairly crowded, Landmannalaugur and one in a spot so quiet, remote, and beautiful that we could not believe it). I couldn't have hoped to tackle even a third of the trip in my rental SUV. It was the highlight of our 12 night trip to Iceland. Faultless.
