In the shadow of the Battle of Nations Monument lies one of Germany's most impressive surface monuments : the Leipziger Südfriedhof. Already at the end of the 19th century, a park-like cemetery complex with sometimes spectacular tombs was built here.
Between ancient trees and lush rhododendrons, there are simple row graves, imposing buildings, mausoleums and sculptures. Many tombs reflect Leipzig’s impressive Wilhelminian past, but also the need for representation of the wealthy citizens of Leipzig, even beyond death.
Follow the local guide on a stroll through a grandiose cultural-historical open-air museum. Discover fauna and flora in the middle of an idyllic parkland. Experience a unique overall work of art from architecture, sculpture and garden art.

5.00We didn't want to believe it, but the cemetery is really great. Dirk told us many interesting stories about the facility and its "occupants". 90 minutes is actually too little to explore the huge area. Thanks for the exciting guided tour!
