What To Expect
Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon
You'll be met at your hotel by your private guide and head to the base of Corcovado Mountain by car, passing by Rio's beaches and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon on the way.
Reaching the Cosme Velho district, you'll take a unique Swiss cogwheel train that climbs the mountain from its base to nearly the summit. The very top is reached by climbing a flight of stairs to arrive at the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. The view, from this vantage point, with the surrounding Tijuca National Forest spreading below and a circle of mountains closing the horizon at the very back of the Guanabara bay is truly spectacular. After some time to walk around and take photos, we make the way back down.

His knowledge of Rio’s LGBTQ history was impressive, and he explained everything in a way that was engaging, clear, and genuinely meaningful. What really stood out was how accommodating he was throughout the entire tour—super attentive, patient with questions, and always making sure everyone felt included and comfortable. You can tell he truly cares about the experience and represents the community with pride. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio, LGBTQ or not. 5.00Our guide Sergio was more than fantastic. He was punctual, attentive, spoke very good English and very personable. He texted us via WhatsApp the day before the tour to confirm the time and pick-up. Along the tour he kept us informed of the history behind the sights we were about to visit and various other nuggets of information about the city. 5.00David, my guide, was wonderful. He went above and beyond to make the most of my tour and experience to another level. He was mindful of my needs as LGBTQ person. He was also mindful of my health needs and helping me with getting in and out of cars , going up and down the stairs. He has years of being a tour guide and knows about history . Excellent . 5.00Sergio, our guide, took us to different sightseeing spots in Rio in his car. He was so well versed in many ways and helped us learn the history and culture of Rio de Janeiro. Knowing that we were a gay couple, he was also very culturally/LGBTQIA+ sensitive and ensured that we were comfortable throughout the tour, which we highly appreciated. We highly recommend this tour to any visiting LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples coming to Rio for the first time.

5.00It was our first time in Rio and we wanted a good understanding of the local culture beyond the fun beaches. The private tour was well organized and gave us a great opportunity to customize for things we wanted to see. Take a look at what's included and work with the guide to make it your own! We found we needed 6 hours to cover our favorites. I also suggest starting a little after rush hour to make it easier to get around town. (10 am for example). Our guide, Sergio, was very knowledgeable of the history, cool neighborhoods, food and art of the area. He gave us his experience of the local gay culture as well. We had a great time and really high recommend Sergio and the tour!

5.00Leandro, our guide, made our trip memorable and meaningful. We wanted to see the sights, but we also wanted to get a sense for Rio. We truly enjoyed our day on the town. We were able to adapt to our speed of seeing the city and he gave us ideas about places we now want to return to.

5.00Terrific tour! Sergio is friendly, knowledgeable and made all the difference for seeing the best places in Río. Can you do these sites yourself? Sure. But the time you’ll spend getting to them on your own will only mean that you’ll waste precious time on your trip, plus you’ll miss out on the history, interesting facts and tips that Sergio shared throughout the tour. He was very laid back and flexible making it for a great tour. We highly recommend this company and make sure to make a request for Sergio!
