Rice is planted all year round and they welcome guests who want to learn about Rice planting and other farm activities like bamboo weaving, sugar cane pressing, black smithing. The half day programme starts at 08.30 and finishes with a tasting of rice based snacks. After farming experience, we have lunch in the farm (a selection of typical Luang Prabang dishes and fruit.) A huge thank you to our guide, Johnny, and the wonderful families who support their community with this tour! A unique and highly recommended hands on working of the rice field through all 14 steps. Would recommend the tour and going all in, which includes being knee deep in mud at times! A fully immersive and worthwhile experience.

We loved leaning about the hard work of growing rice. It was amazing to have such an informativ and interactive tour. I personally didn’t like the part were we interacted with Bentley, seemed a little unnecessary. We didn’t stay for lunch but we ate some of the snacks provided and they were very tasty. All in all I would recommend coming here, it was a unique and wonderful experience Little side note; we were told to be ready at 8am, to be on time but the driver showed up at 7:49 which was a little uncomfortable since we were still having breakfast. It also seemed unnecessary since we didn’t pick up anyone else and all the other tour members came 10 min after us.

This is an amazing view of traditional rice growing and a lot of fun. We dug a planting trench behind a water buffalo, planted rice, harvested the grown rice, and went through each procedure of preparing it for sale and the table. We learned how really arduous and labor intensive traditional rice growing is. The local guide, Johnny, was an expert, personable and humorous teacher. Highly recommended.
