What To Expect
The Living Land Farm
This charming community farm just outside of Luang Prabang overlooks wonderful Rice Fields and Mountains. Rice is planted all year round and they welcome guests who want to learn about Rice planting and other farm activities like bamboo weaving, sugar cane pressing, black smithing. The half day programme starts at 08.30 and finishes with a tasting of rice based snacks. After farming experience, we have lunch in the farm (a selection of typical Luang Prabang dishes and fruit.) Proceeds from the Rice Experience go to supporting over 60 students with their studies and they operate free English classes for the whole village.

5.00We had a fantastic morning with Mr K Soy at the living land farm. He explained everything and encouraged us and helped us participate and he also made us laugh a lot with his jokes. The lunch was delicious and they catered for us vegetarians. It is a memorable, unique experience. I would highly recommend this experience!

5.00This was such a cool and valuable experience. We really enjoyed learning about the extensive processes that go into rice farming in Laos. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable, and did a great job explaining everything and providing context about how important /central rice farming is to Laotian culture. It was cool to see how circular/sustainable the process is- everything has its purpose and little to nothing gets wasted. We also appreciated the cooperative mission of the farm and how they support the locals in the area. We opted to stay and have lunch afterwards and it was truly delicious. I highly recommend if you want an authentic, home cooked Laotian meal!

5.00This was an amazing experience. The farm is beautiful, nestled against the mountain. You learn all about organic rice farming and get to participate. Johnny, our guide was very knowledgeable and told us family stories. Planting, harvesting and cooking rice is a long process - most which I had no idea about before today. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00Very informative, hands on experience. Covers every aspect of rice growing from seed to bowl, how every part of the rice is used. It's an optional extra, but the food is well worth trying also
