The “Time Machine” will lead visitors on a guided tour through six decisive periods that have marked the history of the Ljubljana Castle and the development of the city. At each of the “time stations”, visitors will be met by a figure who will present his or her period.

5.00The Time Machine tour was fun, the actors are engaging and help bring things to life. The funicular has great views if you are at the front. But note as others have that buying through viator means you get a voucher you have to exchange at the lower funicular booth to get your actual tickets. This isn’t a “skip the line” situation. I went on a holiday Saturday so it was mobbed and you’ll wait in the ticket line and then wait for your turn up the single funicular car to the clifftop castle. The tour was at 11, I arrived at the funicular at 10:30 and just made it to the castle bridge (where the tour starts) in time. Err on the side of going up early, you can explore the castle if you have time to kill before the tour. Or you can walk up (steep but not too bad, less than 10 min walk?) if really pressed for time.

5.00Interesting experience. The guide told us about the history of the people of Slovenia and the history of the castle. In some places that recalled particular historical periods, actors were good at acting out short scenes in costumes of the time.

5.00This is a top attraction in Ljubljana and definitely not to miss experience. You can go there by funicular, try to come earlier to avoid the big crowds. The castle itself is very interesting and offers the best views over the city. There are some small museums on the territory of the castle, we especially loved the puppet one, really good and will please the children and adults alike,

5.00Was an awesome tour and the guide was fantastic. Please take the funicular up well worth the cost it is up there. Also, you may incur some cost, but it is a vacation.
Interesting castle. I recommend buying a ticket to go to the tower.

4.00I made the funicular to go up to the castle. I did a guided tour that I liked a lot. Then I went to visit several areas . I bought a ticket that allowed me to go to the tower. It is not very cheap, but going to the castle and not going to the tower to see the extraordinary views of the city, it is something you should not miss. in the space between walls, outdoors, there is garden area, restaurants and a bar. I had lunch at a very nice restaurant. I also watched a very interesting historical recreation. In short, it was a couple of hours well spent!

2.00Sitting atop a mountain overlooking the city, it casts an imposing figure. The easiest way to get up is to take the funicular rail car which is in itself a very interesting piece of kit. Once you get to the castle, about 30 seconds in the funicular, you have a series of signs and steps directing you to the next level. Shortly you clear the steps and are within the walls of the castle. Not quite what I expected. An armoury display set inside a room the size of a London phonebox, a political art display, a couple of towers to climb that overlook the city (the best part), a 4D movie telling the history of the castle and region, a puppetry museum, and a history museum.
