My husband and I decided we wanted to do Scotland for our anniversary, but it was overwhelming trying to figure out all the logistics/planning for a 10 day trip. Neither of us wanted to try to drive and navigate in a foreign country, either. I happen to follow Tartan Viking on Instagram and looked into them for our trip, and I’m SO GLAD I DID! I basically told them the main things we wanted to see, and they curated a trip just for us (private, guided tour). Took care of booking the hotels, planning daily excursions, and driving us around and we basically just had to book our flights and hotel for pre and post tour (easy peasy). We were picked up from our hotel in Edinburgh the day after we flew in, and then our guide drove us to each destination and would pick us up from our hotel around 9 each morning to go see the sights. Then he’d have us back for dinner around 6. Days were packed with awesome views, hikes, food, and adventure. We stayed in Isle of Skye for a couple nights, then took a ferry to Isle of Harris/Lewis and stayed in a CASTLE for a couple nights (yeah, amazing experience), then took a ferry back to the mainland and stayed in Inverness for a few nights, then back to Edinburgh. So much was packed into all of that, and our guide made it SO stress free and enjoyable for us! Our guide, Danny, was simply THE BEST (queue Tina Turner)! Incredibly knowledgeable, very entertaining, and a fantastic DJ! He is also a very skilled photographer, and he captured some great photos of my husband and me so we didn’t just end up with our own selfies :) He made sure we got to see what we wanted and that we were enjoying ourselves. He took such great care of us, it was a little difficult coming home and having to drive myself around again. Thinking of starting an emotional support group for those of us who got to tour with Danny in Scotland and then had to leave and go back home (Scotland withdrawals are real). All in all - worth the cost, trip of a lifetime, core memories created, and 10/10 would recommend! Also, expect wind and rain if going in the fall. Doesn’t hinder the experience though!

Our group of friends had the incredible experience of being paired with Dan from Tartan Viking Tours. We first contacted a few tour companies and after working with Angelina on suggestions on how to best fit our time schedule we decided to go with Tartan Viking. We were then paired with Dan. Dan was a delight! Dan was also very knowledgeable about history and the perfect sites to see and how to take a great picture! But, beyond that Dan was funny and kind and our group felt comfortable and safe with him. We spent two weeks touring the UK and our group unanimously agreed that this was the #1 experience of our trip. We would absolutely come back to Scotland and do another experience with Tartan Viking Tours.

We had a wonderful tour over 4 days with Tartan Viking. Our tour guide Dan was absolutely amazing and we had some great chats, laughs, and saw some amazing places. Including ones we would never have known were there. Dan is a passionate Scotsman with wonderful historical information which we so greatly appreciated and loved. It felt more like friends driving around than just a tour. Highly recommend Tartan Viking and Dan as a guide.

We had the most amazing experience on our 5 day tour with Ross visiting Glencoe, Skye, Inverness and Edinburgh. The Highlands are amazing. We cannot recommend Ross enough! With knowledge about all the history of each location, he catered to everything we wanted to do and needed, and got us to amazing sites without any stress. We will absolutely be back and requesting Ross. And maybe Dan too! ;)

I can't say enough great things about our 10 day tour with Ross Nichol or to us Dragon Ross. Scotland is breathtaking but Ross with his knowledge of the country and history made it come alive. I've always loved history and I can't imagine a better guide than Dragon Ross, as we named him. I loved the special places he shared with us and the stories of fairies, giants and the green man. Over our 10 days a friendship grew and it was like leaving family when we said goodbye our last day. Thank you Ross for everything but especially for that special place in your family's history that I'll always remember.

We had an epic tour of the Highlands with Danny. He was a great driver and tour guide for the day! He took us on a great hike, and we toured Stirling Castle, Glencoe, a small church, and several other spots. We could have never have seen everything we did on our own. Highly recommend! We will definitely be back.

Ross was very knowledgeable about the history of Scotland. We learned so much from him. We’re hoping to return in a year or two with friends to do another tour. Very thankful that we were fortunate to have Ross as our guide!
