This was our second time taking the “London: Westminster Abbey, Big Ben & Changing of the Guards Tour” within a year. Our first experience was fantastic, which made this recent tour all the more disappointing. Unfortunately, the guide we were assigned this time significantly detracted from the experience. She had a very thick non-English accent, which made her difficult to understand. On top of that, her delivery felt scripted and impersonal—more like a monotone lecture than a guided experience. There was little ability (or willingness) to engage with what was happening around us in real-time or to add any personal insight. The guide also seemed easily distracted by other guides and nearby activities, and struggled to manage the group. We spent an excessive amount of time trying to regroup, counting heads, and waiting for stragglers. The group was too large for the guide to handle effectively, which made the entire experience feel chaotic and inefficient. Though the landmarks were the same as our previous tour, the quality of the guide made all the difference—and not in a good way. Given the price, the experience simply wasn’t worth it this time around. TLDR: The tour heavily depends on the guide you’re assigned. Ours made for a disappointing and frustrating outing. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Travelers should know that changing of the guard is NOT daily, so be sure they are doing it on the day you chose. The first hour is dull, and it really could be condensed significantly. I love a good walking tour, but this one was not great. Lots of commentary on plants and birds… we could have cut all that. The horse ceremony is not worth staying for (absolutely nothing happens). The good? Westminster Abbey was lovely and there was plenty of time there! A dream to see Poet’s Corner!

Tour guide was top notch. He knew the history and explained everything in detail. He made you feel like you were the only person on the tour. I would highly recommend this tour.

We booked this 9am tour specifically to see Westminster abbey AND still get a good spot to see the changing of the guards. Our time was limited in London, and although I have been there my family hadn’t so I thiught it best to have a guide to get us to both, give us some history and find her best soot for changing of the guards. Unfortunately this did not happen. Our guide took much too long in Westminister Abbey and gave us a lot of information but didn’t really time it well. We ended up missing almost all of the ceremony and seeing nothing on the way as we were hurrying. We were in a bad location with tons of people just as the guards were leaving. This was a major letdown for my kids and others on the tour. In the last hour our guide lost her voice and also couldn't tell us any info. My last letdown of this tour was the headset. It does not work for children, and is a but uncomfortable even for adults. It is a hook with a pad for one ear only, and much too heavy and large for children’s ears, so my young children couldn’t keep it on them. Overall, I wish we would’ve just done this day ourselves unfortunately.

Our tour guide was sweet and knew a lot of info tho It was a boring tour and the info jumped around a lot vs story telling. Also, the she spoke Korean and proper English, and it was hard to follow along. I used Context clues, but I could not follow her sometimes. It got exhausting doing this for three hours.
