Abolutely loved it. Of all the choices, this is the LOTR tour you want to do. Our guide Tristan was an extremely knowledgable Tolkien superfan; I'm more of an "appreciator" but it was fun listening to his anecdotes and deep dives with other guests. This is the only tour that gives you access to Arcadia Station where key scenes from LOTR and other movies were filmed - NO other tours can access it. I enjoyed it immensley and look forward to seeing Tristan get cast as an extra in the upcoming Gollum movie.

We had a great experience with our wonderful guide Solomon! He was very entertaining and informative, and even sang us songs! Fantastic views and great commentary during the tour! The opportunity for photoshoots with costumes and swords was a great touch! A very fun time! Highly recomended!

We were very excited to learn about the scenery and the filming locations. Our guide, Tristan, was very knowledgeable, entertaining and a lot of fun. He is very well versed in LOR lore, pointed out many of the locations as well as providing behind the scenes stories to bring them to life. He told us how the the team used the NZ Army not only to build roads but also as extras. It helped us understand the scope of the production and the importance of the filming to the country. We were excited to learn how they filled in locations with CGI to bring the sites to life. All in all it was a great tour and is a must see if you are a LOR fan. I highly recommend it.

Great Tour! Our tour guide was probably the best guide we’ve had in Australia and New Zealand! Super knowledgeable, friendly, energetic, and funny. The whole experience was super fun for our family with two teenagers.

Whether you are a Lord of the Rings nerd or have never seen the movies, the scenery and Aotearoa history is well worth the trip. Our guide, Dan, was the best guide and human being possible. He even helped a tourist stuck in a ditch as we passed by. In 30 seconds, the tourist was free and we all cheered. He is a fun, knowledgeable and entertaining person. The scenery and role-playing were amazing and I couldn’t recommend this trip any more.

Tristan was a fun, knowledgeable and helpful guide. The scenery was outstanding. The best was the visit to the private farm where Isengard was filmed in LOTR.

Tristan was a great guide, super knowledgeable on the lore and the real NZ countryside. Highly recommended and they have a stop on private land that no other tour does where you see the circle of Isengard in the midst of the most stunning farmland I have ever seen.

The true MVP—the wizard behind the curtain, the Ranger who knows every path—was our guide: Salomon. Or as he shall forever be known in my heart: Sallum… Salmeagol… the Precious Bearer of All LOTR Knowledge This man does not merely guide—he lore-masters. His knowledge of filming locations, behind-the-scenes stories, camera angles, production tricks, and Tolkien trivia is deep enough to rival the archives of Minas Tirith. Every stop came alive through his storytelling, passion, and humor. You could feel how much he genuinely loves these films and this land, and that enthusiasm is utterly infectious. What impressed me most was how Salomon balanced hardcore nerd knowledge with warmth and inclusivity—whether you’re a casual movie fan or someone who knows the difference between the Second and Third Age, he makes you feel like part of the Fellowship. By the end, I trusted him more than I trust Boromir with a ring (which is saying something). If you are even remotely a Lord of the Rings fan, this Glenorchy tour is not optional—it is a pilgrimage. From the moment we rode out toward Glenorchy, it felt less like a tour and more like joining the Fellowship. Every bend in the road revealed landscapes so impossibly epic that you half-expect Elrond to step out from behind a beech tree and start a council. These are not “similar” locations or “inspirations”—this is actual Middle-earth, untouched, wild, and jaw-droppingly beautiful. I left the tour feeling awed, grateful, and honestly a little emotional—because for a few hours, Middle-earth was real, and we were walking through it. If you’re standing on the edge of booking this tour, wondering if it’s “worth it,” let me be clear: It is worth far more than its weight in mithril. Do it. For Frodo. For Gondor. For Glenorchy. And for the love of Tolkien—ask for Salomon. 🧙♂️💍🌿

The best experience we had for this tour was the tour guide Amy. She is very knowledgeable about the Lord of the Rings movies, actors, and filming locations. She shared a lot of interesting stories related to the filming. Amy is also extremely knowledgeable about the route we drove on, such as the histories of the road and towns passed by. The scenic of the route is truly beautiful!
